Michigan State dismisses Kenny Kaminski from the program
The MSU 3-point threat said on Twitter over the weekend that his time under Tom Izzo was no more. He shot 49% from 3 point range last year.

Michigan State dismisses Kenny Kaminski from the program
The MSU 3-point threat said on Twitter over the weekend that his time under Tom Izzo was no more. He shot 49% from 3 point range last year.

If the link does not work, this is what it said: Late Monday afternoon, Michigan State released a statement from coach Tom Izzo that clarified the reasons for forward Kenny Kaminski's transfer.

Over the weekend, Kaminski announced he would not be returning to play for Michigan State. It was curious timing. But Izzo made it clear: Kaminski was dismissed from the program.

Here is the coach's statement in full:

"Despite multiple opportunities, Kenny Kaminski could not live up to the obligations necessary to be a part of our program. Being a Spartan is a special opportunity, and at Michigan State we do everything we can to provide an amazing experience for our student-athletes. With that privilege also comes a responsibility to conduct oneself in a certain manner. After he repeatedly failed to meet the necessary obligations, it became apparent that it was time to dismiss Kenny from the program. Although this is disappointing, it is just a minor setback as we are coming off one of the best summers in recent years. I remain excited about the prospects of our team moving forward. We have a group of individuals dedicated to a common goal and they are willing to do whatever it takes to reach their lofty standards, and ready to push each other to be the best they can be."

It's rare that we see a player decide to transfer by the time August rolls in. That's why Kaminski's tweet from Saturday was outside the norm.

Kaminski, who is 6-foot-8, shot 49 percent from deep and was a role player on a really good Spartans team last year.

That 3-point rate was tops in the league.

Kaminski averaged 4.9 points and 1.5 rebounds in just over 12 minutes per game last season. He might've been in a good spot to earn more starting time. Adreian Payne and Gary Harris are off to the NBA. Keith Appling graduated. And MSU needs both size and scoring for 2014-15.

Kaminski has had an erratic three years, though. He redshirted for 2012-13 after injuring his shoulder as a senior in high school. And he was suspended for two games at two different points last season over some academic concerns.

For Coach Izzo to released a statement like this, speaks multitudes, we don't need the headache, need the scholarships, moving on!!!
