Carter is right. Admitting defeat is always one way to end a war.

However, this one will end when Israel says it has achieved its objectives and unilaterally withdraws, even if that only means that HAMAS has run out of missiles. Israel will no recognize HAMAS.

Carter had a chance to get this right at Camp David. He blew it.
