I think Sylvestre deserved it.
If you exclude the NIU game for Johnson, these were his stats. He added just shy of 400 yards and 5 TDs. That's what everyone remembers, not his slightly above average season. He's the best returning QB in the conference, but half the teams are replacing guys. Also, he's beaten one good team and lost to three other teams that would have been considered good.
216/343 for 62.97% completions. 20 TD to 7 Int. He had 3,074 passing yards which comes to 219.57 a game. He was also sacked 37 times for 2.64 per game. He averaged under 1.5 TDs a game without the NIU game.

I was just happy he was the starting QB - otherwise we may not have beaten BG, although we tried hard enough to give that game away.
