That Houston/UTSA spread should go down to 7.5 or 8 by game time

Who is Howell and why are his spreads so much different than Vegas?

Houston's O'Korn is a stud and tough to deal with but he will be facing a much improved defense which is now the strength of this team. UTSA pressured him well last game but we were without our sack leader (suspended), one of our better dlineman (medical redshirt) and our best corner (suspended.) I'm not sure how this game will play out

Oklahoma -28 v Louisiana Tech (OU will come out throwing to establish the young QB)
Texas -14 v North Texas (I would stay away from this one at all costs)
Houston -12.5 v UTSA (Without a full camp to evaluate the new UTSA QB, would pick UH)
Marshall -15.5 @ Miami (O) (Think it may be a 4 TD game)
Troy -7.5 @ UAB (Guess)
New Mexico -4.5 v UTEP (No faith in NM and hope UTEP is healthy this year)
Notre Dame -17 v Rice (I want to go Rice, but I am not a believer just yet)

I agree with this. These are must wins.

Don't feel bad. WKU was left out of the thread too.

Coincidently Bowling Green (-0.5) @ WKU for week 1

UTEP will win. Last year with out bad defense we almost pulled out the win, defense will be much better and we still have our stud running backs. We will win, bet on it.

Nah. We lose by at least 3 touchdowns.

He may be actually picking the game spread and not setting a margin that will level the betting field. If Vegas says 13 point dog, they are saying that is the point where half the betters will pick either team. If actually picking the spread, 13 point dog means you expect that team to lose by 13. A Vegas line will move if the betting is lopsided to encourage more betters on the other side of the line. A straight spread pick will only move if extraneous factors such as a key injury are expected to change the outcome, though this can change a Vegas line as well.
