"A new champion has been crowned the top party school in the nation: Syracuse University."
Congratulations, Orange! Work hard, play hard. Hope your administration is wise enough to not overreact to this.
The AP offers the following response: "We do not aspire to be a party school," Syracuse said in a statement citing its "long-established reputation for academic excellence with programs that are recognized nationally and internationally as the best in their fields."
However, nobody wins a championship like this without the support (or at least intentional benign neglect) of the administration! As you say, hopefully they won't do anything crazy, like stopping consumption of beer in the student section of the Dome.
Like many colleges, the SU administration understands that kids will be kids, and knows that it is reasonable to create a "safe" environment for them to misbehave. The alternative is to move the party off campus where the school can't protect students from the consequences.

All I know...that video attached to the article looked fun (minus the hideous sound track). A bunch of hotties in the video...must of been mostly the sorority girls.

I guess he has to say this stuff to pander to those parents and donors offended by the designation. Hopefully, whatever actions he takes to create a safer environment don't ruin the fun.

yeah, it looks like the party is over. Might not be a bad thing, unless you're a current undergraduate.
