RE: 2014 PRACTICE NOTES...
There's multiple quarterbacks in the NFL who throw with a slight sidearm angle so as long as it's not broken, why fix it?

RE: 2014 PRACTICE NOTES...
Matthew Stafford began to throw sidearm last year and one of the reasons Jim Caldwell was hired in Detroit is because he promised he'd be able to work with Staff on his mechanics (having worked with Manning and Flacco). It's generally not seen as a good thing and in Detroit was held up as another example of the inmates running the asylum under Schwartz. That said, it's also probably fair to say it's less of an issue in college given the size of the line and LBs.

Man, I hope Hallmon and Olootu end up being as good as we all think they are going to be. They could end up being 4 year starters with how our CB situation is at the moment.

Yeah, I don't why but I really dig those practice jerseys. And yeah Adidas is starting to give NIU the good treatment, just a step below Nebraska and Wisconsin but above the Arkansas states and other Adidas teams. NIU is getting like the Cincinnati and Louisville treatment.

Yep. Probably because we are usually featured on tv 3-4 times a year which gets their name out their as well. Wouldn't be surprised to hear about more special uni's for the midweek games later on this season again.

Quote:Once again, the freshman closed out the nearly two-hour workout with two periods of team. It was the defense carrying the day for the freshman in the two periods as Juwan Johnson (New Boston, Texas/New Boston) had pick of Landon Root (Wichita, Kan./Wichita Collegiate) and Herlandez Corley (Mobile, Ala./McGill-Toolen) had a sack of Ryan Graham (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South).

I was out at a festival in Cary (suburb of Raleigh) and was wearing my 2011 MAC Champs shirt and somebody was like "you went to NIU? I see them on TV all the time."

That's awesome. I usually get a comment from people here in Dallas saying they know someone that went there, and I hear a lot about Lynch, Wolfe, and Turner.

Down in Boca Raton this past week and I have nothing but NIU stuff at the in-laws summer house. Was walking around Deerfield Beach and a couple of older fellows (maybe late 60s) saw me and go: good team, that NIU school! Damn shame they couldn't pull out that game against FSU a couple years ago. I reply "yeah, it was a close one but people look at the final score and put it off as a blowout!" The guy goes "well, whoever said it was a blowout needs to experience one of those in order to get their heads outta their a$$es if they think that was a blowout! That damn game was close until the final quarter! Blow out...ha!" He says "have a nice day, and go huskies!"....walks away laughing and talking to his buddy....last words I heard him say was something to the effect of "I hate when MFers don't actually watch the game and just look at the score and make assumptions about....." Lots of people there impressed by NIU as of late.

Mic'd up with Meehan....behind the scenes look on photo day, basically him just goofin around with the coaches and stuff, pleading with Ward to play wide receiver, discussing bionic legs with the athletic trainer, saying he wants to life bodies instead of weights, etc.
Mic'd up with Meehan!!!
Side Note: #19 WR Kenny Galloday, the kid from North Dakota state looks HUGE!!!

We spent a few days in Deerfield Beach after the Orange Bowl. Went to the Whale's Rib for dinner one night. Walked in wearing NIU gear. The bartender calls me over, says he's from the south side and was pulling for the Huskies. Gave us free beers all night.

• Two true freshman who have been getting some good reps on offense are Christian Blake and Ezra Saffold, two South Florida products.
"Between Jamaal Bass coming back from his injury, and Bobby Jones has grown up a lot for his redshirt year. [Michael Santacaterina]'s back, Boomer, Sean Folliard, a lot of those guys are coming strong," NIU linebackers coach Kevin Kane said. "I feel pretty good about where we're at. I've got a solid eight linebackers I can trust right now."
The speed we can run at folks on the outside on offense is gonna be something. Tommy/Turner/Beebe/Saffold, a lot of little dudes but they can all go. I'll be pretty surprised if Blake redshirts because they need size on the outside.
Bobby Jones is gonna be a player. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw him in passing situations this year, because guys like Boomer, Payton, and Rock are more thumpers than athletes.
