Can Someone Explain What This Is?
I've seen waterspouts and you would never be able to get this close to them. It's almost calm all around this thing.

It's a perfect thin column that extends all the way into the clouds. I don't think it is powerful enough to lift a person off the ground. It has to be tornadic of some nature, but that is not a normal waterspout. I have heard about these and think they have a special name.

Someone in the office called this thing a "Fair Weather" waterspout - a non tornadic version that is common in the Florida Keys. Very much like a land spout. So I think you are both right.

That is unbelievably cool.

It's a bit different than the waterspouts around here.
Here's a couple of dumb*** from CA that almost lost their lives.
