Say a nice thing about another AAC program thread
As football season gets closer, tensions grow stronger. When tensions run high, verbal hate gets spewed. And while it's great to be passionate about your team, and it's even cool if you really dislike all other teams, it's still probably healthy to have a moderate level of respect for other conference foes. That's why this thread prompts us to say something nice about another team. I mean we can trash each other's programs in every other thread but in here we give nothing but props.

For instance, when football season is right around the corner and there are a bunch of arguments on the board about whether Houston's program is as strong as ECU's, it makes me not really like the Coogs that much. Notwithstanding my dislike and bias against them, I am still comfortable enough with my fanhood to acknowledge that:

Case Keenum was a bad man that made me sweat every time ECU had to lace 'em up against UH. I even pull for him to make it in the pros. I think he just needs one more year to prove it on the next level. I'm not even afraid to admit that I own a Phi Slamma Jamma t-shirt that I got from the Houston airport. How can you not have love for 2 of the greatest in NBA history, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler? I was really glad when they finally won it all together with the Rockets way back in '95.

See that wasn't that hard, maybe I'm a closet Houston fan in a way. Even though I really don't like UH right now, I do have a healthy respect for what they bring to the table here in the AAC.

Cincinnati is the most consistent and dependable football program in the American Conference. Central Florida is the rising star that will challenge Cincinnati. Time will prove, if they will continue to play at a high level ever year.

UConn is the King of American Conference basketball and Memphis appears to be the prince. 07-coffee3

I love ECU'S Black jerseys and UCF females generally have no problem floating.

But in all honesty, it has been an honor to share some pretty hard faught battles on the hardwood with UConn, they'll forever have my respect.

50,000 strong. Week in week out, rain or shine, no matter what team is one the other sideline. Nothing but respect for that. What can I say....

Well, I get/got a lot of things right about you. However, since this is a positivity thread, I won't reveal them here.

Oh yeah, Tulane, UCONN and SMU, thanks for bringing up the academic prestige around here. Speaking of Tulane, mad love to the city of NOLA and ya'll look fresh in those white unis.

I love our traditional schools. Houston and SMU were once members of the Southwest Conference and were national household names uttered by the great sports announcers at the very few TV networks that broadcasted nationally televised games. At the time, conferences like the ACC were irrelevant compared to them. I love that Tulane was a founding member of the SEC and that UC has been playing football since 1885, just 20 years after the Civil War. After being left behind, I just love that we are here with you guys.

Went looking for the Big East and ended up here. But that's ok. I like this conference of mostly large research schools with something to prove. No school seems just happy to be here - lots of new facilities sprouting.

Visually the American offers a good variety in team colors and uniforms. And it boasts a nice logo with schools in great cities. This might be the best-ever league for food!

What coach wouldn't want to have a league with a recruiting footprint in Texas, Florida and the populous northeast? For all the talk about it being spread out it's in just two time zones with a north/south split.

Looking forward to Navy coming aboard. Hope the American succeeds and becomes #6 rather than poached. I expect serious contenders in basketball and football yearly.

Regardless of how much sh*t I talk about Smoo, I realize that more than likely up my corporate ladder, there is a Smoo grad that my boss' boss answers to.
