RE: "The Factory" to open Sunday afternoon
I attended this event this evening. I thought it was very well put together. Had a chance to walk onto the new field, meet Coach Creighton and many of the staff and receive a lunch pail at the factory. Here are a few pictures I took at the event

Is it your opinion that the field looks pretty good? From the first photo it looks good to me.

Curious how the silent auction went.

I would have loved to participate but didn't know anyone attending to place my 'bids'.

Sideline passes, press box tickets, etc. were some great items.

Assume folks would die for a chance to watch a game from the sideline.

Yes, it is my opinion that the field looked great. The contrast from sun to shadow is neat to see in person. The field looks much, much lighter in the sunshine.

As far as the silent auction, I thought they started the items a little on the high side. I did, however bid on and win one of the boxes of field turf. They had 6 of those, I think each received the opening $75 bid. The autographed mini helmet was the only other item that I know had a bid on it. The rest of the items were between $250-$500 and when I walked through did not have any bids.

PS; Sorry for the small pictures, I had to shrink them to get them under the size limit. I was talking with Ken at Eagle Totem at the event. He has a good write up and pictures from the event here if you are interested. http://eagletotem.net/blog/2014/08/03/pu...tory/7705/

I just checked it out. Looks really good. What will be cool is the sunset on August 30.

BTW, I was thinking of asking a friend to place bids for me.

I thought $50 for the turf box (so I would have lost the bid) and also for the mini-helmet and say $250+ for a sideline pass.

I would love to bid on the press box seats but I couldn't use four seats.

RE: "The Factory" to open Sunday afternoon
The opening bid for the turf boxes was set at $75. If I remember correctly it was a $125 opening bid for the autographed mini helmet, and the sideline passes might have been in the $250 range.

How much turf was in those boxes? I know of a HS that could use about 100 sq yards.

I assume it is those small boxes used for promotional purposes. Say, less than a foot square.

I probably would have gone $250 for the sideline passes.

BTW, was the mini-helmet the new white, gray, mitten helmet?

Interesting photo. Wayne State has a green colored track around their football field.

Here is a pretty cool time-lapse video of the construction of the factory. For those of you concerned with the esthetics of the turf it gives a good look at how the grey changed thru the process to the color it now rests at.

I want to re-visit my suggestion about the track being re-done green (dark - same as the border of the field and end zone).

Does anything think be eliminating the red cinder track look that the stadium will look better (and, of course, they can put those little temporary flag-like things on the track to fill some of the 'dead space').

Thoughts?

Dear Steve,
Personally I like the color of the track. I don't think we should try to minimize the look. We have a track around the field, and let's live with it. The whole concept of where would you move it, and what to do with the stadium once it was removed,I think is moot for now.

Make the track gray. You don't want the outer part of the turf green and then the track green too.

ABR (anything but red)?

I'm open to suggestions, although I have no say in the matter.

Responding to Bob:

Wayne State has green turf and green track. Does it look okay????? I don't know.

But these should be easy to mock up in graphic design.
