With Stadium Renovation, Niu Out To Build A Winner
Huskies Hope For More Fans, More Victories
August 19, 1995|By Mike Hutton, Tribune Staff Writer.

DEKALB — This year, the people connected with Northern Illinois football have more than just the usual preseason talk to fuel their optimism for the upcoming season.

Take a ride down Stadium Drive in DeKalb, just outside Huskie Stadium, and you can actually see the work in progress: the-soon-to-be finished east grandstand.
Ten thousand shiny, new aluminum bleacher seats are being constructed to replace the wooden bleachers that have occupied the east grandstands since the stadium was expanded in 1982.

Pretty amazing to consider how far the program has come in less than 20 years.

1995.....Huskies finish with a 3-8 record, Sadler's swan song, Hello Coach Novak
did the stadium really expand to 31,000? or was the marketing dept. using some new math?

If the student population would lose weight we could pack more people in there. They probably calculated the East side by figuring out how many 110 lbs people they could fit.

This explains the hot dog shortage. NIU wants fans to make it to 40 and squeeze a few more into Huskie Stadium.

there were maybe 10 rows of benches in the south endz one and bleachers in the north, maybe 15 rows. That along with more than the 10K in the east side is how they got to the 31k i believe

Yours is more logical but I am sticking with my fuzzy math calc of thinner fans=more butts in the seats
