How Northern Illinois has won the week on social media
http://www.footballscoop.com/news/13985-...cial-media

One thing is abundantly clear, however. #SchedulePalooza beats the tar out of a press release.

(Oh, and one more: I'll be checking back tomorrow and Friday to see who else Northern Illinois is playing.)

Let's get first things first. This ploy works because Northern Illinois has worthwhile news to share. Athletics director Sean Frazier has put his work in here. Getting BYU to come to DeKalb is major news to Huskies fans, and getting a road trip to San Diego isn't bad, either.

But mostly it works because, well, we'll let fan explain it in a tweet that was so perfect it had to have brought tears to the eyes of NIU's social media team.

Nice article except for Zach posting the wrong Instagram BYU clue.

It's genius. I work in social media and showed it to my managers. They loved it, especially since it gets people to all their social channels

It's great. They've taken news that usually goes out in ho-hum press releases and turned it into an engaging game.

I hope whoever thought of this gets some public thanks.

Yes, and not just for NIU fans...many college football fans around the country are keeping track as well.

All this social media stuff is great but bring back a physical media guide. Enough with this PDF junk.

Your new AD is doing a great job. It makes me wonder what the past AD was doing, or not doing? Very exciting and refreshing time to be a Huskie fan.

Bears did the same. Give a disk now with guide with pics and advertisements, no stats.

Sucks. Hard copies makes for good bathroom reading,

Not much, just $old out our football team to everybody with little in return. For years all i've heard is no one wants to play us in DeKalb. Well, Mr. Frazer is proving them wrong. We just had an AD who couldn't get the job done or just didn't care. We played both Minnesota and Purdue twice on the road for cheap guarantees and no return games. We scheduled a series with Idaho. Then we even gave away our home game against Wisconsin so we could play them three times at their place. And to add icing to the cake we somehow managed to schedule four road games at Nebraska with no return games just after he left.03-banghead
