Isn't Timothy Leary dead?

51. That's exactly why I said that. I know the citation well.

Ah, so you know he's outside, looking in.

Moody Blues, Legend of a Mind

When I saw Leary someone asked him about the song, he claimed it wasn't written about him....

Very good, skin and golf. Keep searching for that lost chord.

We rose in the rankings as the season progressed until we lost to an Ill State team with Doug Collins on the squad. Unfortunately I was at that game as well.

I was at both of those too.

Also seeing Local H multiple times, including once in some other room in the student center. Can't remember it's name.

Yep. I sat front and center for Smith. Funny thing is we got there late and just about the only 2 seats were right there. That was in the '98/'99 school year. He even showed us clips from his next movie at the time, Dogma.

In 2001, there was a Girl Next Door Playmate named Julia Knox at the Grotto. That counts as "at NIU" right? lol

Flea played basketball at the Rec that afternoon.

Agreed, that was an awesome concert.

Saw Thorogood and Smithereens. Were great.

There was an Elvis impersonator at student center once. Believe it was Saucedo, big time Chicago guy. We were so hammered. Only about 50 people. We were singing every song with him.

Sports had to be DePaul win in like 89.

Ended up in lagoon with goalposts after moderate win. Was wearing combat boots, camo pants so I had no issues going in.

Any gymnastics event with Vicki Thimgen. later double for Sheena (Gina Lee Nolin) and Mystique (Rebecca Romjin).

One concert I heard was awesome @ Otto's over a summer around 92 was Warren Zevon. Did not attend.

DePaul win was 1991. We went to the NCAA tourney that year as did DePaul. I was at that game as well, Evans was simply packed and so loud.

"I was at the very first one in 73. Lot of women there. Those women are now of an age to be the mothers of a lot of posters here."

So was I. And I AM one of the mothers on the board! The movie I remember seeing was something with Andy Warhol. It was both erotic and bizarre.

Most memorable events from the early 70s:

Concerts - (I volunteered on the entertainment committee, so I ushered and got to see a lot of concerts for free.) The worst was Canned Heat. The strangest was The Beach Boys (picture a bunch of long-haired hippies singing California Girls and Surfing Safari). The best was Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Authors - (Hey, I was an English major.) Rod Serling when he was very ill from cancer and still chain-smoking. I actually got up the nerve to ask him a question. (The inane, "Where do you get your ideas?" He answered from everyday life and the news.) Walking through a raging blizzard to see Saul Bellow, who got stuck in the snow and never made it to DeKalb.

Sports - The great Jerry Z. tearing up the basketball court.

History - The shutdown of the campus after riots caused by the Kent State shootings.

AWESOME!

04-chairshot

I forgot we saw World Class Championship Wrestling from Dallas right before its demise. About 300-400 in crowd. Only Von Erich left was Kevin. Chris Adams wrestled Iceman King Parson, 20 minutes later they were walking in the distance by the locker room sharing a popcorn in the open, still in attire.
