O'Leary basically confirmed what we've been thinking, given our lack of 2015/2016 games scheduled thus far:
"I'll play anybody anywhere, but I gotta get a home-and-home. I've got a stream of revenue I've got to feed. And don't tell me playing I-AA schools is helping you. If you want to call yourself a power conference, start playing people."

This is why I'm absolutely furious at Jeff Compher and ECU for accepting an away game @ Florida. I was AT LEAST hoping that Ruffin McNeill would somehow say absolutely not to this.
Terry Holland instilled that value in ECU from day 1 he was there. You don't play someone in their house unless they come to yours.

I think there are ~10 or so programs you say yes to the one and done. Everyone else, not so much. I am ok with the UF game.
Nice SB Nation write up. I especially liked this part though.
Next to O'Leary, a throng of Connecticut reporters gush at new head coach Bob Diaco. There's not much of the old Big East DNA left in the AAC, other than geography creating grossly disproportionate interest in UConn football and save for this resort town on the New England coast. The league annually holds an informal clam bake on Newport's Goat Island and mingles media, coaches, players, and executives together night before their half-day-long, informal press event.

Had this been in Orlando, the opposite would have happened...

Guess the SEC doesn't agree with that line. Isn't UCF playing Bethune at home this year?

They play 4 or 5 ranked teams each season. They just happen to be fortunate enough to call them Conference Games.
When you're conference is a perennial powerhouse, setting schedules 4-8 years in advance, you can play an FCS school and a couple of cupcakes OOC. When you're struggling for recognition, you need to take on the big boys.

bethune is their first fcs in years and that was because they couldnt work it out with fiu and the ireland schedule..and Bethune was their biggest rival before they joined the fbs

Pesik: Thanks so much for posting this. I wanted to watch, but got sidetracked w/ my son, and later couldn't find it on the net. Honestly, I forgot about it!
I love CJ. He's still developing as a HC, and I saw improvements from year one to two. If he steps up his game again this year from last (it's only his 3rd year as a HC at ANY level!) everything will be fine in New Orleans.

Yea, only because Penn State got moved to Ireland, we needed another home game, and no one would sign up to come play in Orlando. Like GOL said.
