It’s getting harder and harder for the Obama regime to call this a “phony scandal” with a straight face.

Quote:New emails uncovered by the House Ways and Means Committee indicate that former IRS employee Lois Lerner has a strong dislike of conservatives, and at one point called them “********” in an email exchange.

The committee released an email Lerner received in November 2012 complaining about the “whacko wing of the GOP.” The person wrote Lerner that there are “too many foreigners sucking the teat,” and that the “right wing radio shows are scary to listen to.”

Lerner replied, “Great. Maybe we are through if there are that many ********.”

The other person then wrote, “And I’m talking about the hosts of the shows. The callers are rabid.”

Lerner replied, “So we don’t need to worry about alien terrorists. It’s our own crazies that will take us down.”

Lois Lerner has simply said what most Obama-supporters believe to be true, and she has simply done what they want the government to do. With people like that in government, using the IRS and other agencies to harass conservatives isn't a bug, it's a feature.

If we stopped looking just because someone said there wasn't anything there Nixon would still be president and you would still be buying Enron stock. This is what normal people do when they suspect something - they investigate.

Steve, I'm not saying not to investigate. In fact, it's their duty to do so. It just needs to be way less political, and both sides are guilty.

Also, Issa and the rest of the GOP needs to stop leaking stuff. And stop promising things that never come to fruition. That's all I'm saying.

And again, both sides are guilty of this.

That all being said, if you're now trying to say that someone calling somebody a name is some indication of corruption, you're desperate. Sorry.

And I think the national tragedy will be the total collapse of the house of cards we are building. And instead of bringing us together, I fear that will just intensify the finger-pointing.

I think of Argentina. 100 years ago, they were the world's 7th richest economy and all the "experts" believed they were on the brink of spectacular success. Then the redistributionist policies of Peron drove investment away and stalled the economy. Today, the country is almost exactly 50/50 pro and anti Peron, and both sides spend all their time running around pointing fingers at each other. One dictatorial regime tried to unite the country by taking the Malvinas away from the Brits. Two months later they were the Falklands again, and one more reason for finger pointing. That's pretty much where I see us going.

If 9/11 couldn't "bring us together" (for more than 6-8 months), one wonders what kind of a scale of disaster would be required to have a more long-lasting effect. Perhaps the nuclear annihilation of a major US city? Of two or three such cities? My honest guess is that even that would have minimal and very temporary impact as regards anything to do with "national unity".

The committee also turned over evidence that Ms. Lerner used her personal home computer for IRS business, including storing taxpayer information.
