It's illegal to attempt to steal first base from second
On Aug. 4, 1911, Washington Senators infielder Germany Schaefer stole second in an attempt to draw a throw from the catcher that would allow a teammate to score from third. When that failed, he went in reverse and stole first, just to elicit a throw.

This resulted in Rule 7.08i, which deems a runner out if he "runs the bases in reverse order for the purpose of confusing the defense...."

Gotta love baseball.

This rule and its origins was taught at the little league level … at least when I was a kid.

We also were informed about passing another base runner would result in an out.
Although on July 4, 1976, Tim McCarver did it purposefully during a bases loaded home run…
resulting in the rare grand slam single.

It's not baseball, but in high school football the ball carrier can cross the line of scrimage and then go back to his side and throw a legal forward pass. I know that because it was a trick play that burned me for a TD.

Speaking of interesting base running decisions, the Pirates recently turned a walk into an inning-ending double play.
