RE: Five things to know about Ray Guy
Everything I've ever read or heard about Ray Guy has been positive. It seems that he is one heck of a good guy (no pun intended), and he's the best punter that has ever played the game. I am glad to see him in the NFL HOF. He certainly belongs in it.

6th thing: Ray still holds the record for most interceptions in a single season at Southern Miss with 8. He played corner.
Oh and had a no hitter in baseball.

Did someone forget to tell him punters aren't athletes?

He also was the backup quarterback to our quarterback Buddy Pallazo his senior year. Did anyone say that he once held the distance record, 61 yards, for an NCAA field goal? He also had a 94 yard punt against Mississippi, where he was standing in his own end zone and his punt traveled out the back of the Webel's end zone, with some roll of course.

Ray Guy was also the emergency QB for the Raiders. He was a good baseball player as well, and I have heard reports that he was a great pitcher with a fastball in the 90s. Throwing that fast wasn't normal back then like it is now.

they're doing one for every inductee... I've got mine set to record on the DVR (as I'll be at the office when it plays).

Is Ray Guy USM's first NFL Hall of Famer? If he is, he won't be alone for long. When will Farve be eligible for induction?

Yep... At one point we were talking about why Sammy Winder and Louis Lipps (last of the Steeler WR's) who haven't been included in discussions for the Hall.

Patrick Surtain has had some mention in the past. I think Brett is up in 2 years. I was really hoping that he and Ray would go in together.

I was looking at a list today of what colleges had members. I had forgotten that jackson state had the most from Miss with 3, om has 2 and the leghumpers dont have one.

Hey we got a "free plug" on NFL-Network :)

Ray rocking the Southern Miss logo shirt (and a commercial for USM on the network... Although it werent much).

Had to laugh about the line about his mom wanting a girl: "We were all supposed to be named Margaret". *Hehe*

It was pretty good. Especially the scene with all his friends from HS sitting around telling stories.

It was done tastefully and the shots from inside The Rock were a nice touch.

I loved the story about Underwood's comment after Ray threw the no-hitter. "He's a football player"...

Lots of great little fun stories.

RE: Five things to know about Ray Guy
Congratulations to Ray Guy and Southern Miss. He should have been in the Hall a long time ago. I can't wait to see his bust tonight. My friend and mentor sculpted Claude Humphrey's bust for the Hall of Fame this year. I saw it before he sent it to the foundry. It looked really good. Not sure who sculpted Ray, probably Blair Buswell, but I'm sure his bust will be awesome too.

The only negative thing about the whole show is one guy who manages to get his face everywhere was telling some of those stories.

Ive heard a little different one about his first practice. I have a friend here in town whos father in law was an assistant under Bear underwood. He said bear got all the coaches together after watching ray kick and said, if anyone tries to coach him, YOU ASS IS FIRED. lol
