@RuffinMcNeill now we are getting down to TV discussion with ESPN!

What exactly does that mean? Talking about coverage? Times? networks? Or discussions of an extension with a raise?

I would think coverage and times for potential games. You might see "special behind the scene access to locker rooms" or more coaches mic'd up. Something more to get people inside and aware of the conference. Maybe we will be ESPN's genie pig to access before it rolls out to the other leagues. I don't think anyone needs to get worried about extension with a raise.

Based on some interviews done locally within the past three months aresco is trying to strike while the iron is hot. They had no data points before and what if we fall off for a couple of years. No better time to capitalize. They may be talking extension. Any raise would be predicated on that

Wonder if Navy's AD is at the AAC meeting. I know they haven't joined yet, but its not like they have an allegiance or membership in another conference.

I will take you at your word and I really hope you are right! However, I think ESPN will look at it as last year was one year and to come back in a few years. I agree to us and the AAC the iron is hot now with UCF and UCONN having great showings. However, IMO to ESPN the iron is cold as it's a new system and the new rules might change how we are looked at any further. If we get the slot the next 2-3 years I think the iron will be hot in our favor.

To me a win out of any meeting with ESPN this year outside of more $$ would be:
- Better coverage during fall camp and CF Live
- Slots for "primetime" if the late season games play out like we like want them to
- Some better advertisement for the conference
- Help with OOC games for FB and BB
- A potential Game Day event
- A few ESPN produced commercials for the league
- Pub, pub, pub pub

Great list. That would be great for the league.

Premium members on UCF Rivals got some 2015 scheduling news that was related to ESPN.

Maybe these talks are related to 2015 scheduling.

We got a "heads-up" on a potential 2016 match up in ours that is linked to ESPN also. No clue if it will come through...

Aresco has said that the "new" football contract fully goes into affect this year and had some great things in it that money cant buy. Well, I want to see it. I would agree that ESPN talking about the league would be a big boast outside of them throwing us cash.

I have the feeling that Aresco's CBS & ESPN history are going to come in the clutch quite a bit for us in the next few years.

That's probably related to the rumors concerning potential UH-OU matchup at Reliant for Kickoff Classic 2016.

Yea, I know. I just did not want to say it to jinx it :)

BTW, I heard and this is COMPLETLY a rumor so I don't stand behind it but I could see how it could be true, but with Stoops blasting A&M about OOC games; this game might be on shaky grounds. Seems as if OU is worried that this game could get a tidal wave of negative press because of Stoops comments. Hope not....

That's why I said "potential." It don't happen until the paint on the contract is dry. 07-coffee3

Stoops' comments are irrelevant. Compared to present Sooners schedule, this is a good matchup for them. I suspect real issue, if there is one, would be seating guarantees from each school. Sooners don't travel as well as the Ags or Teasips, and even though there is a sizeable OU alumni base in Houston, the jury is out as to how they would show for game in H-town.

I'm keeping a close eye on A&M n UT OOC games... They love coming to Houston, but yet shyaway from a real football opponent, Houston/UH.

Sooner or later they're gonna have to face Houston/UH in football 04-rock
