Our writer there will be Kelly Hines. Also, I didn't mean that they didn't mention it in the article... I meant that they don't mention it at all in any of their other articles. The Tulsa World ceaselessly has rose colored glasses when it comes to OU/OSU Football and Doom and Gloom Goggles when it comes to Tulsa Football.
The Tulsa World is a business for profit...not a charity. They write about OU and OSU, because probably 90% of their sports page readers are either OU or OSU fans.
Doom and gloom? They are reporting the current situation. They realize the struggle ahead with the P5 and the struggle to get the TU football team out of its current doldrums.
The article is correct. Bowlsby is just laying it on the line. All of us not in the P5 are in for a struggle. It is what it is.
Care to read the other article where he more or less supports us playing spring ball? As a TU fan, a World reader, and a person that has had personal (friendly) conversations with every single one of the World's sports writers I think I have a pretty good idea about their personalities opinions on Tulsa / Oklahoma sports. This guy would much rather be in Norman that in Tulsa on gameday and that is fine, I just wish he wouldn't perpetuate this crap.
Anyone who follows Tulsa football knows the situation that the smaller D-1 schools are in. We don't need to be reminded about it all the time. He didn't bring up any new points. He didn't suggest any realistic or positive solutions. It's just not good writing.
I also have conversations with the Tulsa sports wrriters, including this one....even provided information at the request of one or two. You say the writer would rather be in Norman than Tulsa on game day, well most professional writers would....they want to cover the biggest games they can. However, in this instance you surely know that the writer is a grad of OSU....so he would probably rather be in Stillwater..right.
Oh ...I read the other article. He did not support Spring ball, he just suggested all options be explored.
The news is not good so we cannot criticize writers for reporting it.
Who says you can't criticize how bad news is written about? Or its timing. There's been quite a host of other positive topics Klein could have written about, that he chose to be silent on or was too busy to cover. He's a jovial guy in person, I'll give that to him, but I don't care for his opinions as much as Bailey or some of the other World staff. Bailey getting reassigned to OU really struck a blow to TU's newspaper coverage. I have high hopes for Ms. Hines though. A little youth isn't a bad thing.
In regards to the spring ball, the topic was effectively dead when he wrote about it. He suggests throwing around longshot ideas about what the league should do... without even mentioning the most likely outcome of the P5 vs G5 struggle... an absolutely MASSIVE lawsuit and anti-trust battle, which is what I understand the consensus opinion to be.
He also fails to comment on how much of a detrimental maneuver the P5 split could be for the education of future students. If Tulsa & the rest of the AAC are to match funds for FB & BB, whilst cutting other sports, the amount of athletic scholarships will be decimated. Basically, Ed Obannon & Co.'s greed for compensation combined with the P5's greed to keep milking the CFB cashcow will lose thousands of prospective student athletes the chance to go to school in the future.
But why mention any of that, when you can talk about Tulsa moving its 100+ year tradition to the spring.
Man your post are all over the place. You seem to just throw stuff out and when someone counters it, you jump to something else and do not respond to the item being discussed. You go from name calling Bowlsby, then Klein, then the Tulsa World, then Ed O'Bannon............
Hey, I understand you are frustrated with the situation TU is in, most G5 fans are frustrated. Just take a deep breath and relax. There is nothing you or I can do about it, so accept it for what it is.
The P5 group is in control and they will eventually get whatever they want. It is what it is.

I didn't say anything about Bowlsby. I said Klein should pick his topics better....which would make the Tulsa World better.... Ed O'Bannon was just a reference to the overarching point that there are more important things to talk about than rehashing what cockamamie ideas SMU's football coach has for 5 conferences.

You said ""the writer (Klein) was a *****. You said "the Tulsa World gives us the worst coverage for football" and you said "Ed O'bannon and Co. were greedy".
