Toledo area wrestling gets notice
Oregon Clay's Matt Stencel just won the Fargo National (USA Wrestling sponsored) cadet championships in both Greco Roman and Freestyle. He is being interviewed by WIN magazine, Flowrestling and USA wrestling. He completely dominated the competition in Greco Roman - having pinned every opponent in 2:15 or less. He never made it to the second period. Pinned finals opponent in 0:57.

In Freestyle, he had tech falls and a pin in 0:14 leading up to the semi-finals where he beat the nationally ranked kid from New Jersey by a 16-10 score, then won in the finals 13-4 against a kid from Kansas.

Below is a link to his interview after the Freestyle championship. He is 16 years old and going into his junior year of HS.

In addition Drew Mattin from Delta took a 4th at 106 and Dylan D'Emillo from Genoa took a third at 94 pounds. Stencel was the only champ from Ohio in Freestyle and was one of 2 champs from Ohio in Greco.

Still wish UT would commit to bringing wrestling back.
