What I've never been able to understand is how few Jews in Hollywood ever utter a word in support of Israel. It seems that they have a "cause of the month" but that never includes Israel.

Ron Silver was the most vocal supporter of Israel and unfortunately died young. (He was a classmate of mine in college.)

They all could be classic neo-cons, supporting Israel AND liberal social causes, but there seems to be an unwritten rule that Israel is off the table.

It's clear to anyone with reasonable intelligence that Israel has a right to defend itself from anyone who seeks its destruction.

He's probably disappointed on how his daughter turned out.

I'm sure there are a few others in Hollywood that agree with Jon's points but don't have the cojones to say it publicly. I wish more would but thumbs up to Jon.

I heard Mel Gibson my make a sobering public statement on this issue.

He and his daughter have worked on repairing their relationship, Smn. In fact, I get a feeling that a little bit of both her father and her husband have rubbed off on her.

Joan Rivers and Howard Stern both stood up for Israel this week. Good for them and God Bless them.

Voight has been an outspoken Hollywood Conservative for about 6-7 years now. He traveled with Rudy Giuliani during his bid for the White House back in 2008. He ultimately supported McCain and spoke at the 2008 RNC.

He admits to being a liberal back in the 70s-- he protested Vietnam and even toured with Jane Fonda. In 2008 he wrote an op-ed piece to the Washington Time saying he regretted his "youthful anti-war activism" stating he was influenced by "Marxist propaganda".

Yes, and he still gets plenty of gigs. That meme is way overplayed. Hollywood is about making money. If the star produces it, they will get jobs, end of story.

Other Hollywood conservatives include Clint Eastwood and Tom Selleck. But not too many young ones.

The only youngr ones that I am aware of are Elizabeth Hasselback, Angie Harmon and a few country singers.

Also, Voight is currently nominated for an emmy for his work on Ray Donovan. Doesn't sound like he's been shunned.

I have a pencil with Jon Voight's teeth marks on it that I found in a glove compartment.
