Revenue matters and the club seats bring new revenue.

I repeat.

Seats are not added to appease the student athlete.

Revenue matters most.

Exactly. That's why the new addition is focused more on suites and premium seating and not raw numbers of seats. Much more cost effective. It's very expensive to do work on this stadium due to it's location. It's doesn't make much economic sense to invest millions in a bunch of general seating which would have a limited return on investment.

more than that...we need revenue generation to keep up in the new world of NCAA and this move by UC to add REVENUE generating seats rather than general seating for the sake of adding capacity shows true vision and that UC "gets it". I applaud UC. We may have come to the party a little late, but we are making all the right moves right now.

Guys I totally agree premium seating was the big issue but we all knew that this renovation would fix that..all I am saying is I am way happier with 45,000 seats than 40,000. Idk how you can say a 100,000 seat stadium doesn't have a great atmosphere. When you see that many people tailgating and walking into the stadium it just pumps you up. Now in game I agree that nip can be just as great as those large stadiums

I agree that 45,000 sounds better.. That will stop the references to us having a small time stadium..
Baylor was gone from a 50,000 plus stadium to their new 42,000 seat
stadium. They list maximum capacity at 45,000 with standing room.
Maybe, Tommy is throwing in a little standing room... Anyway,, it all sounds good...

Thought it was done during 2008 season, not sure but I did hear the same thing. IMO the loudest game at Nippert was the UC-Pitt game for the Orange Bowl - it was rocking that night.

I wonder if the changes will make it even louder. Being down in the hole makes it loud, and the new boxes might trap the noise even more.

That was correct. It was the UC-Pitt game during the '08 season that killed the sound meters on the south side of the stadium at field level. I had two college buddies who worked in the AD during their undergrad as marketing interns and they were given that information to try to put it into promotional material. They only analyzed the BCS stadiums at the time, but I figure there wouldn't be a non-BCS team with an atmosphere like that.
