Unique License Plates
I recently had to renew my registration here in Virginia and looked through the different options for unique license plates and saw this one:

I ended up getting the plates for the look and historical significance of the Gadsden Flag, but I'm sure I'll get dirty looks because it's perceived as a Tea Party symbol. Plus, how else could I get yellow Virginia plates?? How cool!

I was wondering if anybody on this board has unique license plate(s) for a political cause. Seemed like an interesting topic given what I was doing.

Flaunting your political leanings is always asking for trouble.

I would have thought so, but we have several left leaners on this board that use that flag as their avatar.

I think the Gadsden flag is f***ing awesome. It's a shame that a certain political movement has hijacked it.

What's more the shame is that the political movement has been hijacked by those who are not true to its principles.

I have considered removing it from my profile for that reason.

Alabama has over 70 options, everything from realtors to fighting autism. Including every single 4 year college, both public and private, in the state.

Not really, any liberal license plates styles? How about a rainbow flag one for LGBT persons? Nope.

This isn't an exhaustive list, but there is an AFL-CIO plate, a couple of peace plates, a pro-choice plate, a feed the kids plate, and a protect the animals plate. Seems to be a variety of liberal options.

And Smaug, Virginia has over 200 options. They even have plates featuring colleges from out of state.

RE: Unique License Plates
I stand corrected. In Virginia, Equality Virginia does have a plate. In most states, only conservatives get plates.

I figure they would have had something that aligned with your POV. I have no idea how they are able to afford the variety.

You do know there is a process to it, correct? Have to have a certain number pre ordered, or enough requests etc.

If conservatives get off the couch a bit more to actually accomplish something they would like to see done, rather than rely on someone else to get it done for them, then so be it.

but, let me guess. Another grievance, right? There aren't enough "gay" plates out there and it's due to homophobia and the denial of some other fictional "right". Like the "right" to a gay "wedding" cake... Geeeeeezzzzz.

It kind of ticks me off to see Texas plates with a logo from a college from another state, but I guess it's a money maker.

RE: Unique License Plates
I bought one with my school logo and all on it once and have never done it again. I think it's a waste of money.

I have a license plate holder with UA Alumni on it and I think that's more than enough.

Some people go overboard and I, much like a lot of other people, don't really care where you or I, or anybody else, went to school or which school we may be fans of.
