Ohio State fires band director Jonathan Waters over ‘sexualized’ culture
WOW.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/...aters.html

Quote:Examples of abuse include an annual midnight band practice at Ohio Stadium in which men and women were expected to march wearing only their underwear. In one recent year, a student suffered alcohol poisoning at the practice. Students led the rehearsal, but staff members, including Waters, were there, too.

Read the investigative report, it's unbelievable!

Makes me glad my band days were spent among the "little sisters of the poor".

^Probably an honest and accurate assessment, but for the paradigm shift in collegiate and familial expectations, today. Not excusing anything 'harassment-wise', just observing in what direction a litigious turned society can head.

Well...three things.

1. No one should be coerced into to taking off his/her clothes and performing sexually explicit acts, even if it's pretend. The band was mostly men, btw.

2. No adults in charge should stand there and be OK about it. That just ain't right, and those adults should be fired.

3. I bet this never happens in the Stanford Band, though they did get banned by the Governor of Oregon from the whole state for their spotted owl shenanigan at the half time show on the Duck's Field. hah.

Was it Washington St. or Oregon that first legalized assisted death? Either way, both deserve whatever Stanford gave them.

I don't know about assisted death, but that half time show that Stanford put on was the funniest thing I've ever seen a marching band do. I love the Stanford Band--second to ours of course. 04-cheers

That was funny - Oregon fans didn't take too kindly to it tho. 03-lmfao
