1. I really think ODU and Marshall will develop a good rivalry. Travelling trophy not necessary.

2. I also think WKU and Marshall will develop a strong rivalry as well. This series presents a perfect opportunity for a traveling trophy. This "feud" deserves a Hatfields vs. McCoys type of trophy. Giant moonshine jar? Musket? Barrel of shine?

3. It will take time for Charlotte, but those games will have a great atmosphere because we have so many alumni in the area.

4. We've played once & I think MTSU already has some rivalry to it as a result of how the game ended.

5. The FI/AU games will always have some type of juice to them as long as Doc is our coach. We recruit that area HEAVILY, as most of you probably know.

In sum, the WKU series is the only one that has a trophy that actually could make sense and not seem totally contrived.

For our sake, please never use that term in public again. 03-puke

Thank you

The cup could be filled with Bojanges chicken for the winning team. 05-stirthepot

Or craft beer from the winning state! 04-cheers

Okay, this needs to happen. And the chicken and the beer must be shared.

I suggested the "Golden Enchilada Dinner #2" for UTSA v UTEP.

Our AD didn't appear to appreciate it.

Would never work. UnC-c would find a reason to cancel every game in Norfolk no earlier than 6 weeks prior to the season starting.

Coming from a team that gave up during a game, that is rich.

I'm sure Wilder will start running his mouth like 13 year old girl anytime soon.

I truly hope that Charlotte and ODU find some inner hatred of one another. Strong rivalries create compelling games, even in years that may not be noteworthy otherwise. I have found that hyphenated/once-hyphenated North Carolina schools are particularly sensitive to the abbreviations of their name, making it an easy way to poke the bear until we can actually get on the field together.

I agree. Originally I was excited about playing ODU as a future conference mate and the only team that Charlotte would have faced every year of its football teams existence. Then you had to go cancel that first game, the one I was most looking forward to. I finally had a reason to hate you.

Honestly though, I find most ODU fans to be a great level headed and loyal bunch, much to hard to find any fault with- until you start with that "unC-c" crap. For one, it makes you sound like Appalachian State fans, and second, if you had to deal with the likes of UNC-CH (Chapel Hill, CHeat, etc) hanging over you, you'd hate the given name as well!

Go Charlotte, and go Niners! (And pass that winners cup of NoDa's Hop Drop and Roll!)

That cancellation was probably a blessing in disguise. I bet ODU would have/can demolish(ed) Charlotte.

In the end, not much is lost because the 49ers will have plenty of years to get a crack at the Monarchs.

Rivalries take time. I always though Southern Miss-Marshall would have become a really strong rivalry, but only 1 of the 9 games in the entire series really carried strong meaning with it and created lasting memories. It takes a spark to make a rivalry meaningful.

exactly. bowling green is located in south central kentucky regardless of the school directional name. a land of rolling hills. the hill western is located on is a decent sized one.

we have no eastern kentucky style hillbillies. we do have plenty of rednecks though. if you throw a rock in any direction you very well might strike red.

the town i work in now is around 25 miles from bg. these folks will drop the n-word without looking around first. so plenty of red. just no oxycontin hillbillies around here.

maybe we could have a travelling anhydrous ammonia tank celebrating all the meth heads.

Well we didn't do very well against their replacement either, but this year JMU is supposed to be down in a a big way, and its at our place, and they have a new coach; so there's some hope.

Nope, wrong cup. It would be more fitting for the winner of the Dixie Cup to get a Dixie Cup!
