Life is fragile, amazing the body can take the abuse it does. Glad They can keep scholarship and I'm sure someone will step up Big Time and Rep Them. GO BEARCATS!

Hate to see anyone's career come to an end, but health is the greater concern in this situation.

What were their roles on the team? Were they starters?

Bad accident that resulted in two deaths before the season got going if I recall correctly, don't believe they ever got to play a down.

That was the circumstance surround Barr and Harrison's injuries, Foster was a head related injury I believe, not sure on the other.

Hate to see young men's dreams taken from them, but they'll still get a good education and be able still their path in life.

That sucks, but they can still get their degrees and I hope everything works out for them. But, your life is worth more than football. I'll miss Jeremy Grove this year, would have been his Sr season. He'd a neck injury last year and had to stop playing. He was a Freshman All American LB. But, he'll be on the sideline as student coach this year.

I wish we saw more of this IMO. There are way too many kids who continue playing after suffering severe injuries and put their futures at risk. Another injury to the already damaged area could really damage their ability to think, walk, operate their body normally, etc.

None of them were starters and only Foster ever logged any minutes (in a reserve capacity). They were all freshmen last year.

I am proud of my alma mater for honoring these scholarships for the young men.

Actually, there is a lot of that going on...but its mostly being done by coaches to FREE UP scholarships to select new players because the current ones were NGE, not good enough.

Nick Saban has gotten blasted for this for basically forcing out some players so that he can use that new football scholarship to select someone else.

Here's a Wall Street Journal article on this very subject:

I was just going to say the same thing. I see articles all the time about new kids being put on medical scholarships. Its great that Cincy is doing this, but its not an uncommon thing.

All schools honor scholarships in situations like this. Always have.
