No. Why do you think he's only enrolling at UT because of football? He's from the Detroit area, so he's not far from home.

MBG, past history.
Ray Williams
But you're right...a new President (and certainly a new coach) could mean a very different situation.
And he was never on the team. He was trying out as a walk on. He didn't meet the off-the field requirements, so he never made the team.

From BCSN...
YORK UPDATE: Csont'e York, the former Michigan wide receiver who enrolled at UT, contacted coaches about walking on to UT, but Campbell said no decision has been made yet. York was kicked off Michigan's team after punching a man and breaking his jaw July 18 outside an Ann Arbor bar. He will be arraigned on three charges, including one of aggravated assault, next week.
Campbell said UT still is in “research mode” regarding York's situation at UT.
“I think we'll make a final decision when everything gets cleared up [in Michigan],” Campbell said.
In other words..."if he ain't in jail or kicked out of school...of course we'll take him."

And if that happens, myself and all UT fans will be extremely disappointed.

Generally speaking, you wouldn't go to an out of state school to be closer to home, especially if you're walking on.

He's within an hour of home and pays the same tuition as if he was in state.

Not being a smartass, honestly curious.

Bottom three counties do. Hillsdale, Monroe, and Adrian. Its only fair if you live 15 minutes from the University that you get in state. Honestly I think Detroit should too. Kids live 4 hours away and get instate but my girlfriend is an hour north and is paying way too much.

State Tuition has nothing to do with proximity. Those U's are funded by folks four hours away not by people one hour north..

I've been told by folks who know..or claim to...that the hardest college for an elite hs sr from Michigan to get into is the University of Michigan. They don't need you occupying a seat they can get double for from a kid from out of state or abroad.

...and CMU reinstates Thomas Rawls after he pleads guilty to some kind of felony in court today.... York looks to have a path to play at UT..BG has Roger Lewis who carries a criminal conviction.
Can we all just drop the holier than thou BS that some of you front when a rival school takes on a kid with issues. It ought to be clear by now that a great set of hands and a sub 4.5 40 are far more important than a clean record.
