the Cincinnati Brand
When I read what recruits say about UC, from the great campus, to yeah I grew up watching them on TV, it is a winning program etc, and although we are "G5" at this time, I found this interesting.

Release courtesy Indiana University Athletics:

""Facing Cincinnati reinforces our commitment to adding strong non-conference programs to our future schedules," Indiana Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass said......consistent with the Big Ten's policy that each school play at least one major conference opponent in the non-conference each year."

I think this is how your typical P5 AD views Cincinnati.

RE: the Cincinnati Brand
There are fans (cough Louisville) that inexplicably think that our exclusion from the P5 somehow makes us a less formidable opponent than schools such as Purdue, Indiana, Vandy, etc. But the truth is, we are one of the winningest programs over the last few years in CFB. Im talking top 10 winningest programs. While people will talk about our SOS and what not, the numbers don't lie. We are a winning program and teams are afraid to play us in the Nip. Dont let anyone change your mind on that.

Now that Ville is gone, their fans on message are the first to comment, Cincy should be next in. They have softened it up some. SEC SEC SEC fans are really wacked out though.

I was in Gatlinburg Tenn on vacation last week, and caught much of SEC media days on the radio. The comments that came out of the mouths of the fans and commentators was unbelievable. One example had a commentator speaking about a 3 star recruit choosing between an SEC team and a G5 like "UCF or ECU." The 3 star would play immediately at UCF et al while they have to wait till their senior year to play at any SEC school.

For Bearcat fans, the conference implosion has continued to be a real downer but it's important to note that Cincinnati football is still held in high regard by those who know the on-field success of the past decade, stadium upgrades, Coach Tuberville, etc. Just ask Purdue fans about Bearcat football.

I work with a diehard IU fan and he's worried about his team being able to compete in those games. We're pretty hard on ourselves sometimes--it's a Cincinnati thing. There will always be naysayers on P5 message boards; the arrogant and often uninformed. But UC football is not smoke in mirrors. It's the genuine article.

By the way when we play IU, they might be good. They scored a mountain points last year but could not play on D. With OK defense they should bowling this year.

VS Indiana State IU scored 73 ( most points allowed in a single game)

VS Navy IU scored 35 (tied for 4th most points allowed in a single game)

VS Bowling Green IU scored 42 ( most points allowed in a single game)

VS Missouri IU scored 28 (tied for most points allowed in a single game during the regular season)

VS Penn State IU scored 44 ( 2nd most points allowed in a single game)

VS Michigan State IU scored 28 ( tied for most points allowed in a single game)

VS Michigan IU scored 47 ( most points allowed in a single game)

VS Minnesota IU scored 39 ( 2nd most points allowed in a single game)

VS Illinois IU scored 52 (3rd most points allowed in a single game)

VS Purdue IU scored 56 (tied for most points allowed in a single game)

They scored 3 against Whisky and 14 against OSU

^^^ Odds aer that Kevin Wilson will not be coaching the Hoosiers in 2021-2022. If he keeps the Hoosiers on their upward trajectory he will get offered a job at a better school. If they continue to struggle he will be canned long before that.

In fairness Tuberville will likely not be coaching here either. That is just a long time out.

Yeah Clifton, if Wilson turns them around it will be interesting to see who comes after him.

It will be good to see Kevin Wilson coaching against his former team then.

Cincinnati fans and the Cincinnati media are the roughest on UC. Wherever I travel people always have something positive to say about UC. They comment on the basketball team, fball, and even academics. However, when I am here in town, its the most negative/sky is falling commentary on UC. The UC brand is strong and continues to get stronger. Proud to be a Bearcat.

I have cousins that haved lived in Cincinnati for 30 years. They believe that Cincy is a second class university. It is comical about the way they look down on UC.

same here...I live in the midwest and when UC comes up it's seen as a major school and the bball/fball are seen as big time. I was watching UC host NC State at a sports bar and a buddy was watching with me and he said, "man, I wish I would have had a chance to go to a school with big time football like this on espn". I just smiled (remembering back to when I was there and how it was anything but big time hahaha. I was there when Bowling Green whipped us 45-0 or whatever it was in front of 18k fans (if that). UC has come a LONG LONG way.
