So, for us newbies, set the record straight - what's the best way to refer to your favorite institution? Is it one of these? or something else?
What are the biggest faux pas?
We know GSU is out ( could be state, or southern ).
ASU is out ( could be Ark or App )
TSU is out ( Tstate thinks it's Tsouthern ).

Appalachian State University - App, Appy, ASU
Georgia State University - GaSt, Gstate
Georgia Southern University - GaSo, Gso
Troy University - Troy ( that was easy )
University of South Alabama - USA, SoBam
University of Louisiana Lafayette - LaLa, Ulaf, U-La-La
University of Louisiana Monroe - LaMon, Umon
Arkansas State University - stAte, ArkieState
Texas State University - Tstate, TxSt
New Mexico State University - NMSU, en-em-a-zoo,
University of Idaho - Idaho, U-da-ho

For Arkansas State....use stAte or A-State. Avoid ASU for both App and us.

I have no problem with Appy - I heard that was popular with App folks in the 60s - but a guy on my local sports talk station always refers to us as "Appy State" and for some reason that really bothers me.

We don't think it is, it's a fact. When the change from SWT happened (in 2003) the acronym has been TXST. Texas Southern has threatened legal action if we go by TSU.

Not sure why you'd use Tstate when it'd be easier just to type TXST. Personally I just think the acronym TXST looks pretty cool and I've never seen anybody write Tstate so it kinda looks weird to me.

I'm not sure what TXST was called when LBJ went here but yea, this is the school.
