From what I read on here, for what it's worth, evidently he didn't like the manner of how Cubit was let go, so wouldn't consider WMU. If that's the case, probably helps explain his Media Day shtick about Fleck.

That is utter nonsense. The manner in which Cubit was let go is not atypical from how this profession works. The median length of a head coaching tenure in FBS is 3.8 years. Cubit had almost twice that at WMU. If Martin didn't like Cubits treatment he would have a hard time finding a place to work in major college football.

I have to agree, he probably just didn't like the opportunity.

And now he just is that rare bird who thinks Flecks act is as nutty as it gets.

Just one mans opinion.

RE: MAC Media Day
I think the elephant in the room is much bigger than just Chuck Martin. The entire coaching community was upset with Cubit's "treatment". Like Liam, I'm still confused as to what that means, and why? I think it has more to do with the "coaches fraternity" and the idea that Cubit was well-respected among college football coaches, planned to retire at WMU (no doubt he was loyal), did respectable/above average with limited resources (being in the MAC). and then a new university president comes in (Dunn), doesn't like how the program is being run, essentially calls the shots, and strong-arms a change.

It's just a theory of mine, all speculation.

Still, college football is a business. And Cubit wasn't getting it done the last few years. I can't argue that a change was needed... but here we go again, 18 months later...

Maybe this next time we make a hire, we can observe how Miami righted their bad decision of two years earlier.

You need to do your homework. Kathy B was the AD who hired Bill Cubit.

Kathy offered the job to someone before Fleck, and Dunn nixed it. So I guess you could say he was calling the shots.
