The Herd wants Miami to be good

Just said that ESPN really wants USC, Michigan and Miami to be good ... for ratings. Says small market teams being good isn't good for his show or the company. Called Miami "flashy, flamboyant and controversial, all things that sell"

Twenty-two programs won a national title between 1980 and 2002. Of those 22 programs, Miami is one of three without a 10-win season during the last decade: Miami, Colorado and Washington.

Colorado didn't win a national title between '80 and '02. Stop perpetuating myths of 5th downs, phantom clippings, and losses as champions.

Colin is right in saying that is what ESPN wants. They also get excited when the Yankees and Red Sox are good and wish the Jets and Giants went to the Superbowl every year. They're idea of good NBA final includes Lakers v. Celtics, whether they deserve it or not.

Think you missed the purpose of that quote.

Well, ESPN knows that Miami being nationally relevant for two or three years is worth about a decade, decade and a half of news since the only times they have been relevant they would shortly thereafter go through a lengthy investigation for the multitude of violations.
