ESPN reporting NCSU vs WVU 2018 & 19
If true, that is a great pickup. Surprising since WVU will play in Charlotte against Tenn in 2018. http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...-2018-2019

Better you guys than us. Personally, I'm glad UofL doesn't have to travel back to Morgantown anymore.

Some of you Louiville fans crack me up saying stuff like that..."am glad UofL dont have to travel to morgantown anymore"...in your short history of major college football, be thankful that you got a chance to come to morgantown. Just as most wvu fans were thankful that uofL joined the big east..all of a sudden that U of L is in the ACC, WVU is not worthy of your visit..its really funny that "SOME" U of L fans think they are better than WVU...it would be interesting to hear as to why you feel that U of L is thankful for not having to come to morgantown again?

Prelude?
Miami was already on most ACC schedules before they ever joined the league.

MD was always against West Va., did not want them in 1950 when the SoCon voted to add them IIRC. VT and VMI sponsored them IIRC.

With MD gone and the academic snobbery somewhat ameliorated WVa might have a chance in the future. FSU and Clemson would back them. The key would be the temperature of VT and Pitt. Duke and UVa will not be for them but that's just two votes and it takes 4 to blackball.

The real question is would the B12 let West Va go if they had a suitable replacement in hand and let them out of the GOR. Given their distance from the rest of the conference and the time disadvantage of traveling west, would the B12 trade BYU for WVa and think it even?

Who knows, but the subtraction of MD and the addition of Louisville changes the calculus.

What did you dislike about Morgantown? More particularly, what was appreciably worse in Morgantown that what one finds at UM-College Park or in Philly?

The majority of WVU fans are nice and act just like every other fan (they'll joke with you and cheer for their team). That said, the negative experiences I've had with WVU's "bad fans" have be significantly worse than pretty much any other fanbase I've interacted with and they've been bad enough that I simply don't want to repeat the experience.

I've never been to a game in College Park or Philly so I wouldn't be able to give you a comparison. The majority of WVU are perfect fine and what you'd expect out of any other fanbase. However, the minority of fans that cause problems (mostly 18-30ish age range) seem to be a greater proportion and more outlandish in their behavior than what I've seen and experienced from other fan bases.

We went to Morgonton in 2007 and our group suffered some pretty intense verbal abuse and also had several beers can chucked at us on the walk to the stadium. We were also treated to some beer cans being thrown into our section during the game and a few character who decided they wanted to taunt the visitors instead of watch the game. Again, it was a minority of fans doing it, but I have never seen or experienced anything like that on other road trips I've taken. Maybe I had the misfortune of running into a few groups of really bad fans on that trip, but it was a bad enough of an experience that I don't really ever want to go back.

Fair enough, but you know all rabid fanbases have their idiotic fans. I can't refute your experience but WVU has played Penn St for over 50 years & they have signed home & home with us. Additionaly, nortre dame, lsu, ohio state, wisconsin, etc has all been in morgantown over the years, hopefully we can stop this type of bad behavior to get schools like yours to return in the future...

You seem like a sensible WVU fan. If we ever meet at a bowl game in the future we could enjoy a beer together if you feel likewise.
As for playing a home and away series with WVU, that will never happen as long as Tom Juric is AD. He is intensely loyal to UofL and will never forget comments made by the Big 12 after WVU was chosen.

Ever heard the country song lyric " the river is too wide now for crossing " it pretty much sums up the chances of a UofL/WVU football series.

Well west vu does have like 4-6 already built in RIVALRIES with ACC schools, us included.05-mafia

I wouldn't mind playing them again (INSTANT SELLOUT on both sides) but I want to give it a lot of years to calm down the venom on both sides, (after the big 12 pitted us against each other and basically threw gasoline on our already budding rivalry.)

I like playing WVU. I like the craziness. Just so WVU fans know, the same people who are against them would also do cartwheels if we continued the Keg of Nails rivalry against UC. No offense to UC, but they have about 1/10th the passion and excitement as WVU fans have in their program. These people (aka- apologists) just don't have a big boy football mindset and are going to find out very quickly that the Keg of Nails is a very G-rated rivalry. No one wants to "hug it out with you" after you play at a real football school. Hopefully after they have their feelings hurt enough, they will leave Louisville for Baton Rouge to reunite with their leader, King Kragthorpe!04-bow

01-wingedeagle

Wanting to play UC on a regular basis has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not one has a "big boy football mindset". Here's why I'd like to keep UC on the schedule.

1. The Keg of Nails game is one of the few traditions Louisville football has. That rivalry dates back to 1929 and UofL has played UC more times in football (53) than any other opponent. Having traditional rivals is one thing that makes college football unique, and I'd like to see us keep on of the only rivalries we have.

2. The game is an easy trip for our fans to make and it gives the program more exposure in the Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area. It would be good for recruiting (IMO) and good for fans who can't take a lot of long road trips.

I'll end by saying this. If we are planning to replace UC with an annual P5 matchup or a lopsided (e.g. 2-for-1 or 1-and-done) series against a G5 opponent, then drop the Keg of Nails game. A game against a P5 opponent is probably more valuable from a marketing standpoint and home games make the department money. However, if all we are going to do is replace a home-and-home with UC with a home-and-home against a random G5 program, then I'd rather keep the Keg of Nails game on the schedule. At least the game with UC has some history attached to to make it interesting.
