RE: UC FB news:
In my view scheduling key matchups wasn't a priority for the league office because just having a schedule was an accomplishment. I am not sure people realize how difficult it is to create a schedule when membership is in flux. UC was scheduled to play UCF last season until Boise State and SDSU left, at that point the league was just trying to create a schedule that worked for every school.
Now that the league is stable we have a solid division setup that will give Cincinnati annual games against USF, UCF, ECU, Temple and UConn which is pretty much as good as it gets in this league in terms of annual opponents.
I am hoping UC adds Kentucky to the 2015 and 2016 schedule. They don't need they to open Nippert because UCF, UConn, Temple, Navy, or any other conference opponent would be a solid opening game. Having Miami Fl and another power conference team later in the year would give the schedule some juice later in the season.

Maybe he'll have some announcement on other non-conference matchups that may be percolating. Locking down home and home with Pitt, Louisville and another P5 would be exciting for Bearcat fans and it would begin to answer some questions about non-conference scheduling gaps in the next few years. Kudos to Mike Bohn and company on securing Indiana; let's hope there is more to come. A B10 or ACC opponent adds some sizzle to the home schedule.

Great info Bearcat2012. On the one hand I'll take it as a compliment from Coach Saban. I guess UC has come a long way when Alabama is worried about getting beat at the Nip. On the other hand don't be such a wussy Nick! Thank you CTT for sticking to a home-and-home only.
Could the Cats have at least two wide receivers near or above 1,000 yards receiving with the depth and talent? Gilyard and Goodman did it in 2008. There a lot of variables for that to happen but you have to believe we will play to that strength and try to exploit match-ups and lack of defensive secondary depth. I'm thinking the bottom tier of the AAC will be like a hot knife going through butter in terms of offensive output and racking up points.

I think this team will definitely have the talent to have two receivers over 1000 yards. I think that the outrageous surplus of talent at WR however will keep that from happening. Way to many quality players to keep off the field and only one ball to toss to the playmakers. Wouldnt be suprised to see 4-5 receivers over 600 yards which would be nuts.

I also thought about too many hands for the ball but I wonder if several receivers will become more prominent in terms of staying on the field and a number of others will fill more spot roles. You figure Gunner will also build some chemistry and rhythm with several that will keep them on the field more. Playing time will also be impacted by those that can consistently hang onto the ball, make good decisions and reads, avoid costly penalties, block for the running game, etc. Anyway you slice it, it's a good "problem" to have.

Starters have to be Shaq, Mckay, and Chris Moore). I figure Gladney, and Holton will contribute a large amount. RD1v spells Shaq and tail back. Johnson will find time on special teams. Coles, Chisum and Morrison may have trouble finding pt. Honestly, as a prior poster alluded to, the receivers that develop chemistry with Gunnar will be rewarded. There has to be some kind of continuity, so we cannot run more than seven receivers or team chemistry will suffer.

On that Saban comment, Tubs kind of reminds me of a happy go lucky grandpa that at times that loves to fabricate stories. I doubt Nick was worried about getting beat here haha. I'm sure there is more to why the Bama series isn't going to happen.

I'm liking Tubs more and more by the day. He is a GREAT interview and he never BS's around any question. He seems to really be sticking up for our program in a big way lately with some of his comments, especially how adamant he is about only scheduling games if we get a home game out of it. Last year I got the feeling he was treating this job the way you would if you retired from your money making job then got a part time job later in life for fun. But with recruiting and the recent scheduling and everything that's going on with the UC football program, I lOVE having Tubs in charge.

ESPN must have some idea what they want to do that week, but if you ask me they should've taken UC # OSU. Oh, well, guess I won't see it (on BTN).

Former Arkansas DB Chris Murphy transferring to Cincinnati
Defensive back Chris Murphy, an Arkansas signee who enrolled early but decided to transfer from the Hogs after spring ball, is headed to Cincinnati, according to sources.
Murphy is a three-star recruit in the 2014 class from Marietta, Ga. He's expected to enroll in school and join the Bearcats for fall camp next week, though he'll likely have to sit out a year due to NCAA rules.
