Same here. I cringe driving through that area.

I actually like the Fan District. There's a bunch of VCU turds, but there's really good bars around here.

And restaurants a few blocks away. I'm with you on this.

Yeah the Fan is the best place in the area to get a tattoo or join a grunge or gothic group.

The fan is awesome. My brother used to live in the fan when he worked in Richmond. Great nightlife and great food. Loved how intact Richmond's historic areas still are. We tore down most of that in Charlotte unfortunately.

I'm with you ... it's dumpy and I don't hang there for the fun of it, but there are several good restaurants (with excellent cocktails) between the Fan and Carytown. Hit up Heritage if you haven't.

Bagging on Richmond is essentially bagging on Norfolk.

Both cities have their problems and both cities have their bright spots.

Vcu itself, however, is a steaming dump.

Niner grad here living in Richmond. Thanks for the kind words regarding Charlotte and campus. It's come a long way since I left back in 2001. Looking forward to seeing you guys in Charlotte and hope to make some bball games and maybe even football game in Norfolk. ODU will thump us a time or two in football but eventually we'll be competitive and hopefully a rivalry develops.

I still think we need to set up a trophy for the game.

We're the Queen City. They're the Monarchs. If we're not playing for a crown, somebody is doing something wrong.

How about Game of Thrones
03-lmfao

That would be awesome...and would get both our programs some national attention for a few days.

RE: Charlotte 49ers INTEL
It is tough to say what will happen in North Charlotte at this point. There have been a lot of changes in NC taxes in the last year and a lot of businesses are moving to NC, especially Charlotte. The draw in North Charlotte for years has been racing (Lowes Motor Speedway, NHRA track, Dirt track), but that has been losing ground in the last decade. Maybe the completion of I-485 will help spur more growth, but a big city feel would be great in that area. I think if Virginia, as a state wants to keep growth going they will have to do more to compete with low tax and no tax states.

On a sporting note, I think this will be a good rivalry for years to come and I am glad that we compete against regional teams again. I can't wait for us to send you guys back to the beach disappointed.

Less than six weeks till the season starts isn't this the time you guys cancel a game because you are too scared to play someone?

Couldn't the H&H have started in 2014? It's not like you NEEDED the H&H to happen for 2013 & 2014. Go @ODU in 2013, get paid the amount for a buy game. Then play JMU in 2014 and 15.

Why would we want an extra FCS game in 2015 when we're FBS? Who are we, an SEC team? LOL!
