Pretty funny... Larry Blakeney was unable to attend SBC Media Days because of a back surgery he had... here is what the coaches had to say.

Any clue what type of back surgery he had?

Fwiw.....I've had a spinal fusion, and I can't imagine he'd be ready to go when the upper classmen report....much less the freshmen.

I have had two in Lumbar region and had to retire from Coaching because of it....Good Luck to Larry....really like him personally and respect him as a Coach

You can tell how extreme and intense Hud is all the time.

I once saw him come unglued, and almost kill a redneck over spitting over my buddy's fence onto the grass. The guy is extreme to say the least.

Sounds like a good nature ribbing towards a well respected coach. Back surgery is some serious stuff. I have a ruptured disk but will not even think of surgery.

I put it off for 10 years......but when I got to the point of not being able to walk, I figured it was time.

I hope it has worked for you. Mine just bothers me when I wake up usually. After I get moving it gets better. I can live with it for now. I've seen to many patients have a worse time after back surgery.

I Would not consider this a compliment. Any one that extreme will go off big time at some point and it will not bring favorable PR to the university.

I don't blame you.
I know a guy that had 5 ruptured discs and he still ran several miles everyday. But it's not gonna get better....just manage it, as long as possible.

Knock on wood....mine has been great! An old friend had the exact surgery as mine, within the same week that i had mine, and he was miserable. Couldn't stand or sit for longer than an hour. (It was his 2nd surgery in the same area.)
It's a tough decision if you can still get around. Good luck and lift with your legs!

Relax and let us worry about that.

Back surgery seems to be a luck of the draw as to results.
I could barely walk for almost three months after my last one.

Did something happen (all of a sudden) to Blakeney? Why would he wait so late in the year to address this....because he will require some healing time. Just curious...
