Really don't see the point. I like the way things have gone this year and if you move to ESPN3, you lose all the rights to the footage.

And I lose the ability to see the games because I can't get ESPN3.

The streaming service this year has been great, other than having what has to be a pretty negative effect on attendance.

Not sure we can blame the streaming, The A-Sun had free streaming as well for the past few years, it is nothing new.

I am not sure that's what he was saying. Aren't a select few of the games this year (both men and women) on ESPN3 with the rest carried by the SoCon network? I believe he was just saying that he liked the way it looked and that they are ready (tech-wise) for any home games that happen to be selected for ESPN3. I may be totally off-base, but that's my take on the comment.

So i was curious about espn3 games as well and spoke with a buddy of mine who works in college programming at espn and asked him about what has to happen to have home games on espn3. I brought up that Mercer usually has way more espn3 home games than we do every year (same with FGCU when we were in the A-sun). His response:

"School Productions. Mercer produces games and delivers back to ESPN for free, with students handling all the crewing. If ETSU did the same we’d take all of their events. Liberty, Fairfield, Monmouth examples of schools that are doing this."

So it seems we are moving toward this direction next year and will have more home games on espn3

This is what sets the SoCon far above conferences like the A-Sun (hated that conference)

Dr. Sander said on the latest "inside the dome" segment that all of our home games should be on ESPN3 this coming year. I am pretty upset about that, as I don't get ESPN3 but could easily get the web streaming from the conference channel this past year. I am pretty sure most people do though.

So does this mean our games won't be streamed by Socon Digital Network anymore? If so I'll be pretty upset about this too because like you I don't get ESPN3.

What cable provider do you guys have?

I have Directv.

Gotcha.. I know that there is an agreement with Directv and watchespn but you have to have the entertainment package or above. Hopefully they will still stream it on SDN.

Time-Warner but I have the basic package. You can't get ESPN3 with Time-Warner unless you subscribe to the digital package. I cut the cord on the digital package years ago.
