IF it happens, it will be because Hamilton is on the Ole Piss payroll, but he won't be on the staff. That's the way the Mississippi schools do it.

First, this is just massive speculation. But... hiring a guy who works in IT to a college basketball staff position to get a recruit and hiring a guy who has a good AAU reputation and just took a HS team to a state title (without his sons) are majorly different situations.

Agreed. Is it indeed speculation. But similar things have happened previously as JM notes in the article. I still don't see it happening. It would be a different matter if he had some insight to there actually being discussions around bringing someone on staff for Skal's commitment ... but is it trolling ? ha ha ...

Ridiculous, not even in the same vicinity. Why? Hamilton has no basketball experience what- so- ever. I think someone is just venting over U of M's fortune and are jealous of what might transpire if Skal picks Memphis over the Rebels.

How often has a D-1 school hired somebody with no BB playing or coaching experience to be an assistant? Brown with Ed Manning? Where else? Not many more.
Just b/c it happened once, years ago, doesn't make it a possibility, when Martin has not one shred of evidence that anybody at Ole Miss has even contemplated such a thing, much less tried to act on it.
Yep. That's trolling. And it's the last thing I'm adding to this thread.

Seems he's just speculating to me, not saying he has evidence. GP started the notion about hiring the handler and JM is writing about it, on a site that both work for.
Is GP trolling?

I think its the fact that he knows Skal is a heavy lean for the tigers now.

Manning actually had experience. He was a former NBA player, former ABA player, and former assistant coach at North Carolina A&T. He also followed Larry Brown to the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach and later served as a scout for the Spurs.

RE: John Martin says sold Miss might do package deal
Geoff and JM tried to frame the scenario as mocking the posters here that think JM gave Ole Miss the idea. Not so.
1. Maybe there's one poster here that would believe that.
2. What's really happening(imo) is the ole trial balloon being floated by peeps at OM to get reaction from media and public at large. Now they have their answer. The media blesses the "sale". So, no problem.
And, btw JM, Dan Wolken posted here semi regularly. You WILL NEVER be as good as he. So, your little comment about not being caught dead posting here, washes nothing except your over blown ego. So, bathe yourself if you need.
Your constant elitist driven bashing of this board impresses no one except perhaps those you idolize at your station.
So, we've been pounded by far, far better than you.
Wolken knew where his bread was buttered. We were just one place. But he knew.
Those of your ilk come and go. We don't need you.
But, you damn well need us.

Pastner hired Jack Murphy.
Clearly Jack Murphy had no basketball experience.
Jack Murphy 1998-2009 (11 years)
1998-2006
University of Arizona
Student Manager
Recruiting Coordinator
Video Analyst
Director of Operations
Denver Nuggets
2006-2009
Advance scout
Organized off season workouts for NBA players
Skal's Guardian
IT specialist
Maybe Jack Murphy's car windows were tinted the same as Skal's guardian, so hiring them as an assistant coach is the same thing. Saluki hits another one out of the park.

Why get worked up over what may or may not happen? If/when Skal picks somewhere other than Memphis...that's when I'll worry about it.
