RE: FWIW: Preseason AAC CFB Rankings...
I think Houston takes the league title. That offense is gonna be scary good. While I finally have confidence in our secondary for the first time since 2007, I still think that that Houston offense is gonna be too much. Their defense won't be a pushover either.

1. Houston
2a. UC 2b. UCF
4. ECU.

ECU will have a potent offense as well, but their not so great defense is what will hold them down this year.

No way they force 43 turnovers again. Their schedule is easy but they are not nearly as physical and deep as UC.

The Cougars are tough to call, its a team that was unbelievably young last year and they didn't really have a home game all year. Yes they played games in Houston, but they had a completely nomadic existence. So theoretically having a home again and having more experience should mean that they are better. That being said that ridiculous +25 turnover margin was the main reason they won 9 games a season ago, and they can't bank on that kind of turnover luck. If they win 9 or 10 games this year it will because they are a good team, not a lucky one. But there is no telling how the inevitable collapse of takeaways effects them as a team.

I also think Houston should be very good. They have a returning successful quarterback two very good receivers and much of their defense from last year. However, I cannot get past the fact that we totally dominated them last year in Houston. They could not move the ball or stop us. I am having a hard time with them beating us.

That was a game we should have won by a much larger score than we did. 3 turnovers, including one that gave them the ball in the redzone, and 3 missed FG made it look closer than it was.

You guys gotta remember, we aren't at the Nip. Listen, I'm not saying they are a shooin to beat us, but its not a lock that we beat them either. PBS is no Nippert, not even close. It should be a great game, but no guarantees either way.

Very good point. We really have no home field advantage this year. We don't win a lot at PBS.

We won't have the home field advantage like we did at the NIP but if UC fans show up it'll be fine. UC is 1-3 there but we've played Ohio State, Oklahoma, Louisville and West Virginia when Zack C. got hurt so its not like we've lost a game we were big favorites in at PBS.

True, but we only have a four game track record there (one being back in 2002) and all of them were against good opponents.

A potential Ace Up Our Sleeve we should have over Houston will be weather. That game is in the first week in December and often the weather is downright terrible then. UH players will not be used to that type of weather--- heck I have heard comments from their fans that our game with them last year was in freezing weather (it rained but it was 51 degrees).

And all three of those losses (OSU, Oklahoma, and WVU) were exceptionally close games.

The Nippert home field advantage is among the very best in all of college football. That said, I think this team will be fine @ PBS. Our student section was impressive down there in recent games and that energizes the whole crowd. Interest in Bearcat football will continue to grow if this offense is all we believe it could be in 2014. Can't hardly wait...

Kinda?

Lol, it is a stretch I know. They're on our schedule, and we're talking about preseason rankings. I'm just thinking about what a win over the preseason ACC Coastal favorites would mean.

Houston will have no cold weather games until they come here on Dec 6th (and hopefully it will be).
We get our 1 bye prior to hosting ECU, which is great considering how wacky the schedule is.
