RE: SMU Coach June Jones - G5 should play in the spring
I don't see this as an alternative. Too many issues. No pay games. No split of the CFP money. Direct competition from March Madness in the meat of the season. And the playes would be difficult to draft becuase of the seasons timing.

A G5 owned national network would be a better alternative. A national network with a "Game Day" type show and wall-to-wall live games on Saturdaynwould give the G5 an outlet that actually a treated the G5 seriously and would give them a real national stage on which to broadcast thier key games. If established in conjunction with the creation of a series of G5 owned bowls designed to provide the G5 champions with suitable post season destination against a #3/4 power conference opponent--you might just be able to give the G5 the traction they need to become relevant on college football landscape.

That was after the 10-min pre-Sugar Bowl emotional bit where we were supposed to feel bad for CB for dangling his junk in front of a UC coed.

(Allegedly.)

We got 2 (surprisingly) this year and I've somehow managed to work my schedule to accommodate those games, but it is really hard. Also, too many mid-week TV games hurts season ticket sales. If you have 6 home games and 3 of them are Tues/Thursday night on TV then why get season tickets if you can't make a mid-week game and would prefer to watch it at home (or bar) on TV anyway.

As a Texas State fan, I can tell you it was hard for me to decide whether or not to get them. Outside of Navy, the two best games on our schedule are week night games

Saturday Games-
Arkansas Pinebluff (honestly don't care)
Navy (Best choice)
Idaho (homecoming should be on a Saturday)
Georgia Southern (ok)

Weekday-
Cajuns (Tuesday night-- Seriously, WTF.)
A State (Thursday)

I am curious to see if the Cajuns keep that 2nd ESPN2 slot. Its ratings have never been great. I think it was two years ago that twice as many tuned into watch the Cajuns play AState the next week.

Of course, it could be that they are one of the only teams that doesn't mind two Tuesday games. Those things are hard to schedule.
