Actually a pretty significant vote as Scotland will vote to secede from the United Kingdom.

Might start a trend if it succeeds. Texas take note.

The day Scotland secedes is the day the U.K. shuts down HMNB Clyde.

This is actually a possibility and has been in the works for decades. We are entering an age where this will happen all over the western world and we will most likely be experiencing some of the same issues.

Support has grown massively since the early 2000s. If it stays on track, which is doubtful, they'll be out by the end of the decade.

RE: Secession from the Union to be voted September 18
I doubt it passes. There is no doubt a sizable number of people in Scotland that are pro-secession, but I don't think they'll make up the majority. I see it being similar to Quebec. There are a large number of people there that want Quebec to secede from Canada and become its own country, but those people aren't the majority.

I do think we'll eventually see an independent Scotland, and Quebec, but not for a while.

Actually as time progresses, independence actually becomes less desirable for the Scots. The North Sea oil is playing out. Kicking this down the road will mean less money for a new Scottish state.

Proposed back in 2009 by Nate Silver. I'd be living in Gulfland (which sounds like a cheap amusement park whose days are numbered). Better than living in Trinity though.

It would be difficult politically. You gonna tell someone in Amarillo that they can't call themselves Texan anymore? How about a Tyler resident? A split in Texas? Not going to happen.

Instead of a TX secession, can we just vote to kick states out?

CA, IL, NY, MA, VT, CT, RI, DE, WA, OR

Get rid of these train wrecks and the US would be great again.

Yep, and the rest of the states would have pretty much no money - Texas would turn into New York, giving muuuuch more than any other, and the poorer states would just get more backwards and downtrodden.

I dont' think it's gonna pass. This has been a regular discussion on the Breitbart sites. With the UKIP making massive inroads, I'm thinking Scotland stays in the UK and doesn't bolt.

But our economic conditions would improve. A pro business attitude would be refreshing.

Quebec came within less than 1% of secession in the referendum. That is hardly some largely outnumbered minority.

If Texas secedes, it would be the Alamo on a Grand scale. They would be overtaken within weeks by Mexico and countries South.

My ancestors where from the Highlands. I guess that is where my independent streak and distrust of government comes from.
