Wide Receivers
Washington
Moore
Chishum
McKay
Morrison
Abernathy IV
Labady
Holton

When was the last time we were this deep at WR? I think this is a dangerous group. Not really one person who is a Gilyard but just a lot of good receivers that bring different things to the table. If Gunner can get the ball to them we are going to move some chains.

RE: Wide Receivers
Actually there a few guys who might be better than Gilyard. You forgot about Casey Gladney, who originally verballed to Alabama, but signed with Tech. It is a very deep position for this team.

McKay has NFL written all over him. Shaq is a pure slot guy who doesn't score as much as Mardy did, but his production is outstanding. I want to see what Holton and Gladney can do.

RE: Wide Receivers
speaking of the nfl, when was the last time a former bearcat RB scored a TD in the NFL? QB? Cook, last WR to score in the nfl?

RE: Wide Receivers
Did Chisum fully recover from his injuries. He did not look the same in the spring game, and at least on one occasion Tubby has left him off the long list of receivers that will get playing time. He did, however, speak glowingly of Gladney. I can also see Morrison having a hard time getting on the field.

RE: Wide Receivers
I would compare Shaq with Dominic Goodman. He is the guy who I trust will move the chains on a 3rd down when we needs 5-7 yards.

A name left off the list is Tshbumbi Johnson. He was impressive in the spring game and I think before his career is over here he will be a memorable one.

McKay has the talent, just needs to be more aggressive going after the ball at times. Gilyard's leadership and ability to make the big play when we most needed it will be hard to match. Hopefully someone in this group will emerge as that kind of playmaker.

RB or QB? None that I am aware.

WR - I think Thompkins on NE had a few. He became one of Brady's favorite targets, as I understand.

RE: Wide Receivers
will be interesting to see RDIV coming out of the slot

at least its a heck of a lot better idea than giving him the ball up the gut 10x per game!

Gilyard set the bar pretty high in terms of talent, consistency and tenacity. I loved his style of playing with confidence but he was not cocky. I don't know that any of the Cats receivers potentially are on his level but I agree that McKay has the talent and the height (6' 6") that makes him a tough match-up for a defender and potential NFL player. If I remember CTT wanted him to work on the weights and his physicality during the off season. He finished last year with 7 TDs, about 500 yards receiving but an unreal 30 yard/avg. I wonder if some of his inconsistency was just making the adjustment to a new City, University and team/coaches/system since he came directly from Arkansas. Wasn't his grandmother who helped raise him in ailing health last year as well? He's just a kid and the mental part can be so much a part of his success. I look for Mekale to take another step up this year in performance and developing some chemistry with Gunner. Throw in the depth at WR and all the points everyone has made about this group and there is a lot to be excited about!

RE: Wide Receivers
wonder how rb will be...

I really hope Josey is the man and I also hope Tion stays out of CTT doghouse. I like his power.

Anybody have any thoughts on a running back that could emerge as a surprise this year?

If he is healthy, EJ Junior will get carries. I think Hosey gets the bulk of the work.

Shaq Washington is going to be an absolute stud the next two years. I'm talking 90+ catches and 1,200 yards.

RE: Wide Receivers
If he matches last year's production for the next two years Shaw will leave here the all time leader in catches and yards receiving.

Going to be tough with the group of receivers we have. The ball is really going to be spread around.

This years group should help Kiel....it shouldn't take much to make him look good. All we need him to do is "manage the game" right now.
