RE: Wide Receivers
How good did Gunner look in the spring? Is the staff just going to cut him loose right from the start vs Toledo? I just have a good feeling that this years offense is going to be 2009 like.

Gunner looked great. He had tremendous poise back there-- he looked like a QB who has been running this offense for a couple years. With the physical similarities it seemed as if (a healthy) Brendan Kay was still back there at QB. He can sling it and his deep ball was accurate as well.

Here's a clip of some highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stGwOY2Vr...detailpage

Speaking of Spring, I can't believe we have gone this far with out talking about Johnny Holton. Guys-- he is going to impress us this year. I noticed during the Spring Game tremendous speed and a good set of hands. Not only will he be a difference maker at WR, he will be a difference maker on special teams as well.

He can fly, and at 6' 3" another tall WR. Another guy who can stretch the field. A defense can't double everybody.

Our OL will be ok this fall... there's a good 9-10 man rotation

I worry about next year's OL. The staff is going to need to bring in some quality JUCO/5th year transfers at that position.

Just said this yesterday to a friend while discussing the program. CTT must bring in JUCO's at OL or we will be in trouble. The good news is that good JUCO OL's are typically easier to find than JUCO's at skilled positions.

No doubt about that. Will be interesting if any of walk on OL become starters down the road. I think we have about 4 of them, local guys.

His arm strength and accuracy are going to make him a man amongst boys in a lot of games this year. A lot is yet to be proven about his abilities as a leader running the offense and making good decisions, but he's as talented of a thrower as I've seen the Bearcats have.

Greg Cook.

If you ask me, Ehringer, Lefeld, and Bond are three of the best lineman in the conference. Why is everyone so concerned about that front?

I never saw Greg Cook, but among the ones I've seen I agree with uccheese. Kiel's arm is ridiculous, better than Guidugli or Pike or anyone else. Of course there's a lot more too it than that. We'll see how the mental aspect works out.

Keeping everyone healthy. Last year was a problem. If we avoid injuries this yr, all should be well.

Let's let Kiel play in a few games before we start comparing him to Gino, Pike, and Cook.....

Nothing wrong with comparing physical tools.

Plummer was a fool. Should have taken the FSU offer and played WR, would have had 10 year career in the nfl. Colts brought him in as a WR.

You are correct Sub. Never saw Cook of course, and Pike was a 5th string greyshirt.

Paul Brown supposedly said "Greg was the most talented QB I ever had". That is huge praise considering he had HOF QB Otto Graham amongst others.

Greg Cook.
