RIP James Garner
LOS ANGELES – Actor James Garner, whose whimsical style in the 1950s TV Western "Maverick" led to a stellar career in TV and films such as "The Rockford Files" and his Oscar-nominated "Murphy's Romance," has died, police said. He was 86.

Astounding. If he was a civil rights activist, the liberals would be all over this, praising him. However, he wasn't, and they're nowhere to be seen.

Rest in peace, James.

When I moved to Huntington Beach in 1977, the other actor in the Maverick TV show (Jack Kelly) was our mayor. I was too young to have seen that show but I thought it was cool an actor was our mayor.

RIP - can't believe no one has mentioned his best role of all as the gangster falling in love with a female impersonator in Victor Victoria.

He attended -- along with Marlon Brando and Charlton Heston, among others -- the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom" in August 1963. That was an "activist" sort of thing to do.

It's obvious that he's not known for it then.

RIP James Garner
What a great talent. I'll always remember that the character Jim Rockford worked for $200 bucks a day plus expenses!

Also,
Mr. Garner was a stud. His numbers had to rival those of Elvis.

He kept true to his roots which says something for a guy who enjoyed a long career in a place known for its 15 minutes of fame.

What?

James Garner was married for nearly 58 years and by all accounts that I've seen, was a faithful husband.

Mariette Hartley had her child wear a T-shirt that was printed
with Garner’s face and the words “This is not my Daddy”

Apparently those 1970’s Polaroid commercials gave people the
impression that the two were husband and wife.
