That is actually a good idea. That way we could have football all year around.

He is a rich idiot. SMU has paid him 12 million dollars since 2008 to go 5 games under .500 at 36-41.

I think he said what he said to make a point about everything the P-5 conferences are doing to put more distance between themselves and G-5 conferences. It's starting to get very obvious that the P-5 conferences want total separation from us. That is, total separation except for the two or three home games that they need to fill out their 8 game home schedules every year.

Jones isn't serious. He's just throwing the nuclear bomb threats out there that if the P5 marginalize the G5 too much, there are things that the g5 can do to make things miserable for everyone. It would certainly take a unified G5 with one spokesperson to pull off much, so we are a long ways away from that.

if the AAC moves to the spring they would be able to get much better TV coverage and more money. too bad you would have to play most of the season in the dead of winter to be finished by the NFL draft and before the spring semester is over. the average temperature in buffalo is less than 26 degrees in February and in march its only a couple of degrees above freezing. EMU and WMU are similar and Akron is just wonderful in February.

I don't want Spring football. Then what college games will I watch the rest of the year? It's not like I'm gonna watch the P5, screw them. I guess I'd have to find some really good hobbies.

At face value it makes sense till you realize that P5s will have to play G5s and having the "the two entities" operate different seasons causes all kinds of issues with scheduling, recruiting, other sports schedules.... Basically, infrastructure wise it IS stupid.

I really don't think the dude was serious. Does anyone seriously think that the 50 ancient billionaires who keep SMU football afloat would support games in April? And in what way is emulating the USFL a good idea?
