If there's anyone that would copy from the strategy of a long-defunct minor league football operation and call it revolutionary, it would be June Jones.

SMU guys, are you okay with this statement? Horrible imo for recruiting. June just basically said to your recruits that that they are coming to a program that is a have not. This can't play well in talent rich and football obsessed Texas. Regardless of what June meant by the comments, they come across as defeatest and uninspiring.

Why would a talented recruit want to come to SMU with a coach saying something like this. Other Texas school recruiters are going to have a hay day with this statement. It also does not fit into the vision and brand image Aresco is pushing right now.

If Ruff McNeill said something like this ECU fans would be up in arms.

I think the best part of the article is that apparently he does local radio interviews in Tampa but can't be bothered to do any media appearances in Dallas

recruiters wont care, the teams that could potentially use this dont care or view smu as recruiting competition and have bigger influence than this and those that are recruiting competition are in the same bubble

Alabama isnt going o come to a recruit they want thats considering smu and say "june said this" etc..... they are going to say they are in the SEC and we are in the american...no semantics needed

On the few ocassions that SMU might have a recruit that is on the fence between Texas, Texas Tech or even A&M those recruiters will look for anything to reduce SMU in the eyes of the player.

June doesn't try recruiting against those schools
