Also, SEC in 2008 when deal was done was not the 10000 pound gorilla that it is now. Only 2 titles in a row at that point- and just starting to get dominant.

Concerning (1), I'd say that the job of a commissioner is to recognize what way the wind is blowing, in this case that rights to college sports were undervalued and a big boom was coming. The PAC commissioner certainly saw it, as did Delany, since he decided to keep equity in the BTN. Slive simply failed to see where the market was going.

And (2), winning national titles isn't what makes a conference valuable. The B1G wasn't has won't any major national titles in over a decade and yet it has never been bigger and will surely sign a massive new deal in 2016 to go along with the BTN. Nobody in the industry is saying "if the B1G had just won a few national titles recently they would be getting a huge boost, but since they haven't their deal is going to be disappointing". Conference appeal is based on fan interest, and the SEC led the way in that in 2008 as they do now.

The gap in ratings between the SEC and the rest has increased in the last few years as the run of titles piled on.

Anyone else see the HUGE flaw in this guy's math?

What is ESPN's cut of the SECN? $0.00?

I looked at this blog post more in the ESPN vs Fox light than I did hard #'s. No way a Fox pov pumps up ESPN without being able to undercut it. Foundation building.

This is where I see this going:

Clay Travis is the ultimate SEC homer. Not sure why Fox hired him. He makes the Dude look like Thomas Edison by comparison.

I wouldn't go quite that far Bullet, but let's say that he is more closely attached to the SEC by personal connections and more dependent upon their goodwill than a tick is dependent on a deer's belly. Only, he doesn't do us as much good as a remora does a shark.

Re: SEC Network/Comcast Deal Announced
Someone check my math. The posted article said the SEC network will reach 46 million home nationwide. If every one of them paid $1,50 for it thats only $69 million which is $4,9 million per school. Now obviously you add advertising, lets say that adds $25 million per school a total income of $350 million for advertising. That's still less than $30 million per school before operating expenses & ESPN cut. Am I wrong?

Directv and others will be added. They're going to be in 75+ million homes when they launch in 3 weeks.

After further review I admit I am wrong, I found my mistake other than the added viewers.
