App State -vs- Southern Miss on Sinclair's American Sports Network
App State -vs- Southern Miss this year to be broadcast on Sinclair's new American Sports Network

Here is a map of the stations that will carry the game.

Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. is making a push into sports programming, inking deals to air a slate of live college games across its television stations starting in the fall.

The Hunt Valley broadcaster said Thursday it has deals in place with NCAA Division I conferences including Conference USA, the Colonial Athletic Association, Big South Conference, Southern Conference and Patriot League.

The initiative is being branded as the “American Sports Network" and will be carried on Sinclair stations across the country.

The launch will include over 50 universities and colleges. Sinclair will air live sporting events including football, basketball and soccer.

Sinclair (NASDAQ: SBGI) is the largest owner of TV stations in the country. The company’s networks will reach roughly 39 percent of U.S. TV households, including pending transactions.

If that map shows stations that will actually be carrying the game, that is pretty sweet. If it is just owned stations that have the option pick up the game, I'm sure the Triad, Raleigh-Durham, and Asheville stations will pick it up. Hopefully for me, so will the Richmond station.

Yeah, I like the SBC's deal much better. There are not many of those stations in Sun Belt cities.

I'm happy one of their stations are here in the Triad so I can watch the game, assuming the local station carries it.

Only 4 stations located near CUSA schools. IF, the others pick up the games it'll turn out OK.

Hopefully for both of us it's just the begin' of the beginning.
Am not happy with this SoMiss/App game being on a collection of stations that I do not get. Saw in another Wiki update on Sinclaire that they have over 165 TV stations in the US. Believe that's three times what was quoted. So maybe there will be one to pop up in my area.

That map may be leaving off a few stations for one reason or another. In the Triad region of North Carolina both WMYV-48 and WXLV-45 are owned by Sinclair. The map is only showing channel 48. Between that and the digital subchannel both stations offer there has to be room to show these football games. WMYV is an ABC affiliate so they are not bumping that programming, but their digital subchannel carries country music videos, which could be preempted. (Assuming someone would know to look there.) But there are options.

Maybe the map just shows stations most likely to show the game. Noticed that
Sinclair had obtained a bunch of new stations recently that may not be on there
also.
Got my fingers crossed.

Most of the games will be broadcast on all of their stations in some form.

In some cases though they will be on sub-channels. Digital stations now have the main channel, then they'll have something like channel 4.1, 4.2, etc. CUSA games are likely to end up on these channels if the stations that Sinclair owns in an area are Fox, NBC, or ABC affiliates (they're not going to play a CUSA game over a national broadcast of a P5 game). The CW and MyTV stations will probably put the games on the primary channel since they're unlikely to be carrying important national level matchups.

Some games will only be carried on regional stations, but ODU's AD said that most games will be carried on Sinclair's network nationwide in some form.

Here is a blog write up on the American Sports Network
http://mattsarzsports.blogspot.com/2014/...twork.html

Just wonder how much CUSA is paying Sinclair to carry their games.

I don't see any similarity between the 2 conferences tv deals. With this new deal, C-USA will have 67 of 77 home games on tv nationally or regionally plus any game on the latest deal will also be streamed via the C-USA digital network as will any game not televised. How is that at all similar to the SBC television situation?

RE: App State -vs- Southern Miss on Sinclair's American Sports Network
"Appalachian State University football’s Sept. 20 contest at Southern Miss will kick off at 7 p.m. ET and be televised live on the newly formed American Sports Network, Conference USA announced on Thursday.
The Sept. 20 matchup between Appalachian State and Southern Miss is the first game of a home-and-home series between the two schools. Southern Miss makes the return trip to App State’s Kidd Brewer Stadium on Sept. 19, 2015.

The Mountaineers and Golden Eagles are meeting on the gridiron for the first time in 77 years. In the lone previous matchup between the two schools, Southern Miss beat Appalachian, 7-0, in an unnamed bowl game in Biloxi, Miss. on Dec. 3, 1937. "

Doll and Toy Charity Game is what College Football Data Warehouse shows the 1937 bowl game to be.

So even though it's being shown on that new network anyone that cannot get it can buy a short term subscription to the CUSA digital network and see the game?
