Somebody will take him. He might have a ten year career as an emergency center.
Agreed. He'll get a roster spot, unfortunately.
I've never seen a stranger, lazier NBA player than Hasheem. The guy had no interest in becoming a star. He zoned out for entire games. He'd spend all of his free time at the mall or on Twitter. Last year, he had to be held back by teammates when he was trying to fight Grizz fans.

I blame Jim Calhoun for fooling the rest of the world into thinking he was an NBA quality prospect.
Still trying to figure out how/why he was so high on the draft board and why we took him when we had a solid rookie center and badly needed a guard in the back court with Conley.

"Steph Curry....?
James Harden....?
Man, forget them. Thabeet is our guy!"
Seriously the darkest night in the history of this franchise's years in Memphis.

What's worse: passing on Curry and Harden for Thabeet, or trading Kevin Love and Mike Miller for O.J. Mayo on draft night?
Here's another scenario - forget ZBo and Conley. Curry, Love, Gasol. That's a championship contending core.

Thabeet is considerably worse. In all honesty, the entire city of Memphis was ecstatic to see the Love-Mayo trade. Sure, it didn't work out in the end, but Mayo is serviceable.
Still turns my stomach a bit, though.

I remember. Mayo was considered a potential superstar at the time. Ironically, one of the main knocks on Kevin Love was that he had "man boobs".
You can't make this stuff up.

I can't find it anywhere but in a post draft interview a reporter asked Thabeet "what are you gonna do to justify being picked so high" and his response was "man Im just happy to be here". Basically code for Im not gonna do anything but Im rich biatch

My good friend in Memphis, who has season tix, took his 7 yr old son one pregame to sit by the basket, watch the players warm up, get autographs, etc. He told me every single Grizz player was very friendly, gracious and accomodating. Except one. The Grizz employees apologized for him, and just shook their heads.
See ya, Thabeet. Thanks for sucking.

OJ was a gamble worth taking.
Literally everyone knew Thabeet would be a busy except Heisley, Barone, and Jerry West.
If we had Love and we had the 2nd pick, we would have taken Harden over Curry in a non-Thabeet scenario.
Add one more to that what-if scenario... What if Heisley negotiates and extension for Rudy Gay.... Probably could have given him 5 years / $55 million instead of 5 years / $84 million. Before he got hurt in 2011, Rudy was putting up great numbers and shooting well.

I'll talk bad about Hasheem Thabeet in basketball, but I'll defend him here. He was always nice to me (though he blocked me on twitter) and he autographed a ball for my kid.

I can confirm that it was, in fact, world-class. I just might be the one that he was coming after...

RE: Thabeet traded to 76ers, waived
Everybody knew Curry was going to be a shooting stud. Our staff did not do their homework on Thabeet but bought into the hype. Oh, we should have kept Kevin Love, that was a horrible trade but I understand Mayos attraction. You cant win them all, but Curry was sure fire. Shooters like him dont come along every day. Its like passing on Chris Jackson. I just wonder about Rudy Gay and Kevin Love, how their games would have meshed. Instead we get a slew footed frankenstein who cant comprehend the playbook. Put Curry with ZBO , Gasol, and Gay and we likely win it all.
