Breaking: Lionel Hollins is still mad
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-bask...-stone-age

I've been to New York many times. Having been in the league as long as I have and even when I lived in Philly and when I lived, now, in Memphis, we would come up and go to a play or go to a musical and then go to dinner and hang out for two or three days. So I'm pretty comfortable with New York, I just never thought I'd be living here. That's the big shocker. It's still surreal to believe that I'm in New York, and especially after being 12 years in Memphis. Memphis is like, compared to New York, it's like back in the stone age when you didn't have electricity and stuff. And that's not a knock on Memphis as much as it's just a contrast in how developed and how, just, unbelievably electric New York is versus Memphis. People are laid back, they move slow, they talk slow and they drag their words out.

Read Geoff Calkin's comments from Lionel. He isn't mad about anything. He still lives in Germantown and says he will keep the house. Stop trying to start a story when there isn't one.

And that's why the blues and rock n roll came out of Memphis and not NEW YORK CITY!

There was no story until Hollins said what he did. I am not sure if he just doesn't think before he speaks or doesn't care. Probably a little bit of both. This is the guy that reamed the management publicly after the Gay trade. He's also the guy who told the world how much he hated to watch college basketball when his son was playing college basketball. It may be okay to think some things but you got to have a filter on what comes out or live with the consequences.

Hollins is s typical brilliant person, great in one area, a moron in another.

Great Xs and Os and at dealing with NBA players,

PR.. a disaster...

this is why he is not our head coach anymore.

Well he is a head coach now for the Nets but he just needs to put a filter in place or be prepared to pay the consequences.

Geez Lionel, let it go. We have down here, well nearly everybody has. Tillery is deafeningly silent. As for you LH, keeping pent up antagonism is never a good idea. Serenity now.

I guess New York media interviewed him about the difference between Memphis and New York for s***s and giggles.

I think the comment was overblown. But I guess there is a first time for everything (an overblown Lionel Hollins comment I mean.)

I'd be thrilled if we never talked about Lionel Hollins again.

The interviewer never asked him about the differences. Interview here. He asked 'What do you know about the area (NYC) and what are you most curious about?' Hollins did the rest.

Sure it's overblown but all Hollins had to do was to say it's different, it's faster paced and people talk faster. Saying that Memphis is like being in the Stone Age is the main point of contention. It doesn't put the city in a good light.

Any hot water Hollins has ever found himself in was brought upon by himself. I enjoyed having him here and his tough personality appealed to me as a coach but he's not very "likable". He's got a tough job ahead of him in Brooklyn.

It's going to be fun to watch when the New York media turns on him (and they will). He'll be begging for the Stone Age in Memphis after that pressure cooker.

Yep. I doubt he lasts two years there. Nobody seems to.

RE: Breaking: Lionel Hollins is still mad
Hollins did a great job here. He can flat out coach but he is hard headed as can be. You either do what the boss says, or sooner or later, your looking for another job. Lionel knows that, I suspect it was just arrogance. He brought it on himself. I love his coaching style, and understand he was between a rock and a hard place, but do what the bossess ayif. it doesn't work out, then they will be open to your suggestions. Hollins was flat out insolent, and I admire him for stand up for what he believed in, but don't blame someone else for your own decisions. Yes sir Officer, I know the law says 70 mph but I'm going to drive 100 mph because I'll get there sooner. Your going to write me a ticket? For what?
