I am just following the logic that has long been established on this board, specifically regarding CSS. If I personally don't benefit from it, then it is a horrible deal.

Wow, this is great news! I was never able to get CSS since I live within the city limits of Birmingham.

Hopefully this will start to generate some interest in the program, help local recruiting efforts and build up our local fan base over the next several years.

Sinclair will soon complete their purchase of the Allbritton group which includes ABC 33/40 locally. Part of their deal to the FCC, which looks to get approval, is to turn off the 33 & 40 channels broadcasting in Tuscaloosa & Anniston markets and switch the ABC network to Ch 68. So UAB games would be on Ch 21 in Birmingham.

It is my understanding that CSS has already gone off the air.

Oh, that's right. Sinclair tried to sell 68, but couldn't find a buyer. So Sinclair would own CW 21, ABC 68, and MyNetwork TV on 68-2 subchannel. 68 would be carrying the ABC football package.

Is there a Birmingham affiliate for the Raycom/ACC Network games?

Those games have been shown on either 21 or 68. Can't remember which station.

There will still be three channels. The content of 33/40, 21, and 68 will just be combined into one digital channel. Since the digital switchover each "channel" can be split into subchannels.

The downside, though, is that there is a chance not all three will be HD, and if they have to pick I'm sure the ABC feed will be HD first, and if there's an ABC program on that conflicts with a game in a certain week I'd fully expect the CUSA game to get pushed to a "lower" feed like CW or My Network TV

Maybe the C-USA digital network will improve with these new feeds. If you are willing to take the risk and pay for it. There a lot of good conversation about this in the thread on the C-USA board. Just ignore the guy from WKU.

I hope the online feed isn't blacked out in the southeast like it was before.

Great news, unless you knew about Sinclair and how they treat their stations and employees.

Not to mention the president of Sinclair is a scumbag who was arrested for picking up prostitutes.

Yeah, I am one of those people living within the Birmingham city limits complaining about not having CSS. However, now I can show UAB games in my restaurant and watch them in the comfort of my home on away games.
It has been 6 years since i was able to do that.

don't forget complaining about every aspect of the broadcast that's not up to prime time nfl broadcast quality. personally I would rather have a bare bones low budget broadcast of a game than no broadcast of that game.
