After being named to the 2014 Rotary Lombardi Award watch list earlier this week, Houston Cougars linebacker and nightmare for most AAC quarterbacks, Derrick Mathews was named to the Butkus Award watch list also, the third national award preseason watch list this season for the UH senior linebacker. Mathews, who was named to the Nagruski Trophy watch list on Thursday, leads all active players nationally with 348 career tackles and 39 career tackles for loss.

I dont want to jinx it...but, could UH actually start playing a little defense? After last year, the Coogs are actually getting noticed for playing some D. GO COOGS!
